I wasn't really pushing it Scun, But I did record my equal best 60ft time. I short shifted after the launch and was 9 tenths and 12mph down at half track.
It started pulling real hard in 5th gear then it went off real quick. I grabbed the clutch and avoided a siesure, but as well as the hole it marked the bore. I've just heard from the shop that it has not done any damage to the bore.

Best splits.

60ft............2.41s

220yds........8.70s @ 86.54mph

440yds........13.401s @ 102.10mph

Kilo.............25.66s @ aprox 120mph

Fastest recorded top speed into 12mph head wind, 118.3mph.

It was a shame there was no terminal speed trap on the kilo event as it
pulled one tooth higher on the gearbox than on it's fastest recorded speed.

Well sam it's good to hear it ran good... up until the end.

Hopefully you can get a tougher(thicker dome) piston next time?

It's not the piston Soos, it was me reading the plug wrong due to a broken jet.

how well does that 'solo' starter work. there's been some criticism about them being pricey for a complete set up. i've seen pix of ones in the uk of a type on a hand truck, motor, and small rubber tire.

theyre handy and they work starting my dads bike (the cr750 rep) and sams (rs) I cant say much more than that. Its good for what were doing.

The petrol engine powered starters with a go-cart wheel are £595 for the cheapest possible option. I made my own for £300 with a brand new engine so possible to do it cheaper still. Now having lost my racing buddy since he left his wife and moved away (affair, divorce, new woman, new interests...) I've started looking at the powered roller type starter. The big cost in this is the starter motor required to drive the rollers that turn the rear wheel - at least £200 for the power you need, but, it should mean I can start my bikes on my own for as long as I'm Billy No Mates

This type of motogp solo starter of the quality that Rossi etc use is £1800 - reckon I can make mine for £400...

Well guys it's all back together with new piston and ignition system that has the brightest blue spark you've ever seen jumping a one and a half inch gap.

Benny took some pics of the piston, it was in a right mess.

So with just 6 days to go it's count down time.

Thanks Scunny, the atempt Is at Woodbridge (with a capitol W Ben

) in Suffolk.
It's about 265 miles drive and with Chris out of action, It's down to me.

The runway is 1.7 miles with the flying quarter set up mid track which sould give just over a kilo run in from both ends.

Well with just 3 days to go before the big day (it's nearly Thursday here) and I still have a few odd jobs to do.
I need to make a chain guard so I've taken tomorrow night off to get it done.
