This was inside the back cover of American Motorcyclist Jan 08. Still cool looking all these years later.

Any ideas why the orange is all checkered when I view the page.

It's a nice medium resolution scan otherwise.

Is it my viewing software?

Typical "moire" pattern that develops when the screen angle of the ad print conflicts with the screen angle of the scan. If the scanning software does not allow you to change the screen angle you can try cocking the ad about 15 degrees and rescan ;)

We should have a Rickman sub-group.

Who is it?

Here's mine:

I've swapped the  Motad for a Laser exhaust which is a bit like a 70's Piper or a Yoshi.

Now it sounds as good as it looks!

Homedog owns it, that's me.

Hi guys! That's my Rickman and thanks, I'm real proud of it.

Ricky Racer alluded to my latest project a couple of weeks ago but kept it to himself so that I could tell about it!

Go to www.craigvetter.com, then click on "motorcycle designs", then, "Rickman racing". There's a nicely detailed story of Craig Vetter's racing season on his Rickman CR900 Kawasaki. Craig donated this bike to the AMA museum a few years back. As a result of that feature of my Rickman Honda in the magazine, I've been asked to restore the Vetter Rickman. Graig will update website and restoration process ,till completion.

When completed, the bike will be shown at www.ridingintohistory.org in May in St. Augustine, then at a "Cafe Specials" show in conjuction with AMA Vintage Days at Mid-Ohio in July. From there, it's scheduled to go to London's ACE CAFE for an event in September.

Here's the challenge to all you Cafe freaks. The ACE CAFE people will be at Mid Ohio in July, lets' get out in force and show them that us YANKS can build em too!

Ricky Racer, you out there!

Seperate Rickman link on this website!  I'm all for it.

Wasn't Craig Vetter the one who designed the Triumph X75 Hurricane? If so, he deserves to be into motorcycles history for that bike alone, IMO.

Saw that orange Rickman the other day when I was over at the museum.......very very nice. Was looking at the lines of the body work........then the gears started turning about doing something like it out of aluminum.....wouldnt that be nice?? ;D Definately a beautiful bike.

Also....was talking to Mark Mederski the other day about the cafe display at the VMD at Mid-Ohio. Think I will have some of my bikes up there also.....and if any of you have some nice pre-1980 cafe....let them know...they are looking for bikes.

I will post more info also....once Mark sends the updates.

Later,
Greg

Yea I'm thinking that those would look sweet in AL too... I've always wanted to do up some aluminum side covers.  The videos you posted about  making that gas tank gave me a lil' confidence to do it.

Great post thanks,

P.S. are Dunstall's invited to the party?
are we talking just a sub forum or an entirely different site

Craig Vetter no longer manufactures fairings, but he does provide replacement parts for the Windjammer series. And yes, he did design the X75 Hurricane. Joe Parkhurst wrote a book about it, maybe some of you have a copy. I do! The guy is as addicted to bikes as everyone on this forum is. Great spokesmen for the industry as well. Looks as though they plan on some sort of a seminar that he will present at the Riding into History show in St. Augustine in May. And you can bet he will be at Mid O in July.

If there is going to be a Cafe Specials section on this site, it should include Dunstall, since they did Honda 750 stuff as much as anyone. Any of you guys heard of Read-Titan?  Big CB750 aftermarket performance shop in London in the 70's as well. The cafe scene is growing rapidly, we may as well jump on and enjoy the ride.

Thanks to all for the Kudo's, and OHIO CAFERACERS GREG, please do post more info as you receive it. CAFE RACER's rock, at Mid OHIO this year we're gonna make some noise. Look forward to meeting you all there. My Orange Rickman Honda and my Read-Titan Honda will be there as well.

Maybe it could be added to calendar as well!!!

That Read-Titan's seat sure looks comfy for a cafe racer...

And I LOVE the bullet fairing!  Alas, I've fallen in love with another bike that is made of unobtanium  :-\

I'll add it to the list, along with the Tritan, Norvin, R90S and R26  ;D

Dammit Dan! You can, or will be able to in the near future from Glass fron the Past. He has my Read-Titan tank right now, using it to make a mold.

Except for the Bodywork, Dunstall clip-ons and rear sets, it's a stock chassis 1973 CB. Actually quite nice to ride due to the CB's sweet manners.

Currently it has a stock seat and tank, painted the same. Riding position is close but you do sit a bit higher. but it's still not as hard on my arms as the Rickman. That things a rack, to ride.  Butt high, wrists low, neck cranked at too steep of an angle. Still love riding it though.
