By the way, what do you think of the MAC 4-into-1?  How is the fitment?  Is it a quality piece?  We're considering the same system for my buddies bike.

Thanks,
Ed

Thanks everyone!

erb4,

Thanks for the compliments.  I'm not sure what I'm color I'm going to paint it yet.  I have limited skills so I'm not to sure I could pull off what you are suggesting.  I have however thought about painting it 06 Honda VFR white which is a pearl.  Then maybe painting in the Honda logo or (something along those lines) in the color of the frame.  But we'll see.  As for the MAC exhaust...it seems to be decent quality.  I obviously have not heard it yet so I'm not sure how it's going to sound.  It seemed to fit perfect.  I will have to take it off again to install the new exhaust gaskets I have coming.  But I was anxious to see it on.

On another note......

I had a dentist appt. today so I took the rest of the day off and got some more work done.  Painted and installed front disk and got the mac exhaust installed.  I also painted and installed the center stand.  I was going to just use that but it sticks out funny so I think I'll just use the front kickstand.

I think the VFRs white would look great with that frame! why not take a look at how the decals are laid out on the VFR as well and maybe use the modern style honda symbols?

I just looked to my left and checked out the decal lay out.  ;D  Yeah that's pretty much what I was thinking.  My wife seems to think the white won't look good.....I respectfully disagree.  ;)

Heh..think that mentality comes with being a soul brave enough to pilot a V4....Im keeping tabs on this you have me seriously rethinking some things on my 550 lol. not so much the frame color thats yours but the handlebars are a good example of which....im thinking im gonna have to take a good look at the color layout on my 83 Interceptor for ideas for color lay out on my cb. I already know im getting the frame powdercoated black chrome.

"piloting a V4" ....that's pretty good.  People seem to think it's to heavy.  I'll agree its a little over weight but it makes more than enough power.  Don't get me wrong, it's no GSXR1000.  But then again that bike scares the sh!t out of me.  So piloting is a good description for the VFR.  As for the color scheme of this build....I've really had no idea what I was going to do when I got it.  The red was a last minute decision.  I never thought about white until I put the frame next the VFR to take a pic.  But I think I finally have an idea of what I'm leaning towards.  As for the bars, I used these style bars when I built my streetfighter.  So I wanted to incorporate some of the "fighter style" into an old bike.  I think it's coming together nicely.

What kind of bars and adapters are those anyways? can you get some close up pics of them? im thinking between the use of handle bars and adapters (which kinda work as a riser at the same time) and relocated rearsets i may just be able to strike a nice balance for riding position on my 550 without having to use VF parts on it. I too am heavily into the streetfighters and would love to build one some time...any pics of your fighter?

You ask and you shall receive Darkrider -

The clamps

Close up of the bars.  They are $62 shipped.  I'll get you in contact with the guy if you are interested.

Last but not least my ZX7R street fighter.  To many hours and mods to list.  I wasn't even finished with it when I was offered a number I couldn't refuse.  I wish I never sold it!!!  I actually called the guy up that bought it and was going to try and talk him into selling it back to me.  But he crashed it.  >:(

I can def see why you regret selling the fighter. Looks like it was a great bike as well. I would def be interested in the source of those bars man.

That looks a lot like the newer Buell Lightnings which I'm a big fan of.  Are those the stock headlights on that?

You can email the guy at sales@moto-madness.com.  You can get 7/8 CR low or high bend or 1 1/8 CR low/high bends.  if you don't want to get the 1 1/8 adapters you could just get the 7/8 CR high bend. I went with 1 1/8 CR low bend.  You can also check out this link on the other forum I belong to. (http://customfighters.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9598&page=2) The 7/8 bars are $47 shipped and 1 1/8 bars are $62 shipped.  Tell him trav72 from customfighters.com sent you.

No, those are not stock lights.  They were custom made driving lights that had a lighted halo around the edge.  Sort of like BMW's.  This is what the bike originally looked like.

Lowering the rear of the CB?  No, I'm actually looking to raise it with some longer shocks.  Why do you ask?

almost all of the members that donated parts to my project would not take any money, insted they all insisted that i "pay it forword" and do the same for someone else

i have some lowering shocks (1 1/2" lower on the 550) that i was gonna donate to your project.
if you wanted them

Thanks so much for the offer Spikey.  But I'm really looking to raise it up when I find some longer shocks.  I don't want them to go to waste so maybe someone else could use them.  Thanks again.

im wondering how the 7/8" CR High bend compares in height to your set up because i found a wicked light housing set up for my bike on the BCR site and have pondered going with the high bend bar instead so i can mount a mini tach to the handle bar clamp in place of the stock tach since i may be going with the BCR euro headlight housing which allows me to mount the stock speedo in the headlight bucket.

heres the light im talking about.

The novelty of the BCR headlight bucket is nice.  However, I think it's ridiculously long!  I really don't think it will look right with some high bend bars.  But that's just my two cents.

Might look better with the same bar and riser set up as you have then..i can see what you mean not looking right with the high bend.

I haven't been able to work on the bike lately but I was able to get some things done today thanks to the weather.  I painted the headlight ears and installed the forks gators.  I mounted the headlight but I'm not sure I like it.  I think I want to install a smaller light, and just use standard headlight clamps.  Although I like how the front end it all black.  I also got the throttle cables and the new throttle control from cycle exchange installed.
