4 into 1 exhaust
« on: August 05, 2005, 10:25:54 PM »
I just bought a mac 4 into 1 exhaust system for my 1976 cb 750 K. The problem that I am having is that when I fit the pipes to the cylinders and tighten the flanges as tight as I can they are all leaking. I am not able to use the factory flanges and was wondering if there are some type of aftermarket gaskets that need to be used or if anyone else has experienced this same problem.

There should be a gasket between the cylinder head and the header. If you can't find them locally, www.MandP.com have them.

They're copper colored and they're like metal o-rings. When you tighten the exhaust collars they crush, I guess to form a better seal.

I think they're ~2.50 a piece at the local Honda dealer. You can find them on Ebay too - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA-EXHAUST-GASKET-10-PACK-CBX550-VF1100-VT500-CB550_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35596QQitemZ4566351614QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Check your head - sometimes they stick to the head once the headers are removed.

Thanks, I'll contact  my local honda dealership today and inspect my cyclinders for old gaskets.  :)
