Turn Signals....

Hey everyone. I'm a new member, so if I'm posting this in the wrong place.....sorry, just let me know where to post.
I just recently purchased a sweet 78 CB550k. The only thing that's funky about it is the turn signals are turning on but not flashing. Any ideas about what I can do to remedy that?

my cb450 twin does the exact same thing. i thought it was something i screwed up in the wiring somewhere. i know i dont help, but id like to know the problem too

Try pulling the relay switch. Its near your fuses under the left side cover.Give the connections a good cleaning maybe that will help. I have a 75 550k. Mine still are fidgety and stubborn but after cleaning the connections they work 90% of the time. A new switch is very reasonable from honda like 20-30$. Also mine seem to work better when im riding. At stoplights it sometimes will only beep every couple seconds. At higher rpm under power or downshifting they work great. This is after cleaning the connections. Im still going to buy a new switch soon.

You could try a new flasher too, a standard two pin auto flasher will work, if you cant find the stock size. If I remember right, on the 550's it's mounted on the electrical panel, under the left side cover.

make sure all your "ground" or "earth" connections are nice and clean and tight... that will probably fix most of your problems..... worst case scenario...replace the flasher can...
also a flat or nearly flat battery will show the same symptoms.... a weak battery with bike idling may not flash, increase the rpm and see if they work... if so battery may be suspect....but check all your connections (clean them) first..

My bet is the flasher. It is a small canister looking thing. Sort of resembles a very small tin can. It slips into a rubber grommet.
