Good question.

If anyone knows of a source, I'll put it in the FAQs.

Isn't the chrome trim part of the seat cover assembly like on my 750 K4?

I think I found the solution! It seems that the chrome strip is just a decal stuck to the molded plastic edge of seat cover.

This place sell the stuff  in rolls by the foot, but they never replied to my email request for a quote to buy a piece 5/8" x 5'.

http://www.fastdecals.com/cgi-bin/quikstore.cgi?store=&search=yes&detail=yes&product=specialtyvinyl&category=&keywords=&hits_seen=&page=search.html&and=&affiliate_id=

So if one or two members would like to split a roll with me, I'll order a 2' x 5' roll. split it into a few wide strips and split the cost. I could repair the three covers I have with as little as 2 inches.

If no one else wants to take a change, I'll just order a 1' by 2' piece and give it a try myself.

How about trying somthing like this:

http://www.brandsport.com/trimgard1.html

I have used it for trim at the bottom of the tank, and it holds up pretty well.

On the original tank of my 500K, I used rubber tubing, the thickness of windshield washer tubing, that I had split lengthwise with a razor blade. after pushing the cut opening around the seam of the tank, I took a bottle of superglue and placed drops about 2-3 inches apart on the underside of the tank.

This is a timely post  8)

I'm at the point of installing the trim on my own seat.

Here's what I've learned:

On the 350F seat, and by the sounds of it, other SOHC4 bikes as well, the seat trim is molded to the seat cover.
My new seat cover came without the molding, so the instructions recommend cutting the old trim off the old cover and gluing it back on after.

I thought of using the door edge trim since the chome fell of my trim some time ago...even bought some, but the problem is the original seat trim has a lip on the inside which is used by the metal tabs on the underside of the pan to hold the cover on. Door edge trim doesn't have this lip.

So, I've decided to stick with the old trim and simply get the chrome sticker stuff like keiths mentioned. I've sanded off all the old chome with first a razor, than sanding with 400 grit, than wet sanding with 800 grit.

Rechroming the old trim is about the best bet. atleast on the 350F or any model that uses the metal tabs to hold the cover on.

 Cheers, Matt.

i've used door edge trim on the bottoms of tanks and seats, and it works well. there is a bit of adhesive on the inside of the stuff i use that gets a bit stickier after sitting there for a little bit.

i couldn't find a picture of a bike on my computer for which i used it on the seat specifically, but it's on the tank here:

and on the tank and seat cowl here:

As for the chrome, my Brother's friend runs a vinyl sticker/sing shop in town. I havn't picked it up yet but he told my Brother he has lots of chrome sticker material.

I came across a JCWhitney item that's close to this one: "Chrome-plated Fairing Edge Molding ZX014845T".  In their print motorcycle catalog there is a version that seems to be a more narrow tubing appropriate for your application, I think.  It was in the windshield section.

Hi I used the door trim listed above.

http://www.brandsport.com/trmg-2105-c.html

Had it installed at local shop here.  They used rivets to hold the seat cover on and just used the glue already on the trim and the existing metal clamps to hold on the trim.

Worked out good.  Here are the pics!

As Matt says, the chrome list is molded to the seat cover. I have used this guy for seat cover, very good quality. He writes that his trim is sewed on, not sure if the trim he refers to is the chrome trim.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CB750-seat-cover-for-Honda-CB750K-CB-750-K-Duck-tail_W0QQitemZ160318225859QQihZ006QQcategoryZ35589QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

This guy in england can also help, but I think he sells the chrome list separately.

I'm pretty sure  Honda doesn't have a part # for just the seat trim. (they Do for the tank trim ) So you would have either get a new seat from Honda for use door chrome trim.
This guy seems to have a right trim on the seats he dose though... http://www.bgsmc.com/MotorcycleSeatPics.html not sure on his prices though.

Door trim or possibly googling it, maybe eBay might have the answer.  I had a similar problem but for the 650, which has this trim held on by strategically placed tacks that go through the seat pan.  I lucked out and found one at the used parts place for $10.   I used nails instead of tacks, for the size of the heads and the fact I knew I could bend nails over just right.

Lars the gumtwo seat cover is the same one I bought.  I got the 550 one for my 500.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CB550K-seat-cover-for-Honda-CB550-CB-550-K0-K1-K2-FOUR_W0QQitemZ370118135706QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?_trksid=p4506.m20.l1116

Really good quality but things to note there is no trim included. What he suggests is removing and reusing the old trim.  And as well the seat pattern on top is stitched with with padding which is good but not like original heat press pattern.

I've tried that stuff for letters on the back of my Mitsubishi Eclipse. It's now starting to peel. Although I didn't fully remove the letters from the taillights. I just used a exacto knife to cut around the letters

Hate to bring up an old topic, but I think this is the best post to find the solution. My K6 seat was tearing so I bought this cover:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/261807461607?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Quality is perfect, but I'm stuck on something... The old trim was permanently attached to the old vinyl. There is no trim piece on the new vinyl, the seller says you reuse the old one. The way they explain it, I am supposed to cut the old trim strip from the old vinyl, attach it to my seat pan, and then wrap the new vinyl down over the strip. This will work but then you don't see the strip at all which I don't like. The only other way I can think to do it is somehow put the new vinyl on and then put the new strip on top. This would make the mounting really tough but I'm sure it could be done, but my worry is now the new vinyl is riding right on the metal pan and may tear over time. Thoughts? Am I missing something? Should I just take the seat somewhere and let an upholsterer do it? The seller doesn't speaka too good a english and they told me to go to YouTube or return it, so they're no help.

My thoughts are you may be over thinking it. The chrome trim belongs on the outside. There is usually another "U" shaped piece of plastic or vinyl protective channel piece that goes around the base of the seat pan to separate the metal edge from the seat covering. McMaster Carr might be a good source for the "U" shaped material to serve as an edge protector for the edge of the pan itself, or I imagine there are plenty of online upholstery supply shops that could provide this as well. The chrome trim is another matter and I have never tried to source it. I do not have it on mine and it looks good to me. It can always be added later if you really had to have it.

Well you're right, I've definitely been known to overthink things before... On mine the plastic U channel and the chrome plated plastic piece are one in the same, and the old seat was actually one piece with the U channel. You can see in the picture where I drew where the old seat/vinyl was before I cut it off. With the pieces I currently have, should I wrap the new vinyl around the metal seat pan and then push the old U channel/trim piece over top? Maybe put something over the metal first to protect the vinyl? Or should I get a different kit? Sorry to be a pest!

I found from another old thread, a possible supplier of "reproduction seat trim".
It looks like the original trim.  I will say, I ordered this seat trim back in February and have not received it yet.
I did ping the supplier around the middle of April and he had not gotten the trim yet from his supplier.
Anyhow, here is the link to that one.
http://www.hvccycle.com/seats.html

I also found another supplier of seat trim, but it is Not the original type like in the first link.
It is however, workable and looks decent.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/120934455823?item=120934455823&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:L:OC:US:3160&vxp=mtr&rmvSB=true&rmvSB=true

Hope this helps a bit.
