Not really, the K0 is an early 1970 build diecast, looks nice and clean, although it has a couple of later model parts on it, but a teal blue diecast in similar condition sold for 7400 last week on EBay, so 9K for the K0 and that clean 450 looks reasonable. Cheers, Terry. ;D

On one show Paul, Sr. stated that the first motorcycle he ever rode on was a 750 Honda that belonged to a co-worker of his. He was a passenger, not an operator.

I doubt the legitimacy of that auction - zero feedback??? That pic could have been taken anywhere - right??? With all of the $$$ that OCC has, why would SR. be selling his bikes???

I vistied the OCC Shop a couple of times since it is only 40 mins from my house. Those two bikes would be the best made they will sell this year!

That is probably why they are selling them! So people do not have a benchmark!

You are correct, it should be smooth and painted to match the side covers.

Maybe they could not afford the correct airbox???  Or don't even know it is wrong.   ;D :D ;)  I asked the guy if they had the correct air box in the shop.  He said they got those bikes from someone who said they were all original.  They have no other air box.

Tell them you can get the correct airbox with the correct color for $500 and see what they say. I'd love to take their money!

Actually, I think they would have opened up bidding to more people if they had listed those seperately.  They are nice looking bikes.  But offering 2 at once sort of limits the bidding to many because of the cost involved.

Now I need to hope it's a legit deal....

On another note... I was reading in "Honda CB750 The Complete Story", that there is a chance that the airbox on that bike was actually *not* the old style painted to match the bike, but the newer model. Apparently, Honda had some production "wierdness" around the time  of those serial numbers... It's probably wishful thinking on my part, but who cares. I love the color and now have a the little brother (CB450) for my younger brother to ride with me.

Motorcycling has been a bonding experience for my brother and I over the last couple years.... Only wish my Dad was still able to ride with us.

I know I'm paying quite a premium....but this deal is such a funny irony, isn't it? I mean...I'm buying a Honda from "American Chopper".... :)

Anyway, I'll post back to let you all know how the deal pans out.

Cheers,

Dan

Dan,

Congrats. I'd like to think that you're getting 2 nice looking bikes that are in great shape especially considering who that came from. I know there are many people that don't care for the Teutels but irregardless of their theatrics I have plenty of respect for their abilities. Tell 'em we miss Vinnie. It will be interesting to hear your stories about this whole deal.

Thanks RXG.

I have been lurking here for some time. I really think this is one great forum. Such a wealth of knowledge and a great community of people.

I really hope this is a legit deal. I'll know more tomorrow when I call the shop to verfiy it. I'll be sure to post about the deal.

Hopefully see you all on the road soon!

Cheers,

Dan

I think you've done well mate, and I'm sure you and your brother will enjoy those bikes immensely.

It probably is "wishful thinking" about the airbox though, it's probably more likely that someone overtightened the wingnuts that hold both halves together and busted the plastic (which is very brittle on K0's) so the owner has just swapped it out for a later airbox off a K1 or K2.

No biggie though, if you've got bottomless pockets you'll find another one on Ebay for anywhere from 200 to 600 bucks depending on condition, or like me, buy an excellent repro one from LPM in Britain for around 150 bucks. (here's a link) Cheers, Terry. ;D

10K for 2 in perfect shape.....seems a good deal to me.  Both from an owner who may or may not deserve the attention he gets, but who cares....that attention will make for some retained value and at least a great story ;D

They looked like real nice bikes.

I'm glad a member has them. I see you just joined, were you on a mad hunt for 750 info when you found us or have you been lurking for a while?

Sounds like a nice deal.  I also thought they looked real nice.  Would like to know why OCC ended up with a couple of Honda's?  Maybe they were going to chop them at some point?  Anyway, nice to see our member land them and will preserve the look.  I had a new orange 450 but traded it up for the 750 do to vibration of that twin.  Have fun Dan and let us know how it all turns out.

Thanks guys. (Thanks for the links too!).

So, I have been lurking for a few months as a guest. Been reading all of the engine restore threads, etc.

My main ride is a '06 Honda ST1300A and a KLR650. I've always loved the CB750. My dad used to take me for rides on his CB550 when I was a kid. I grew up fairly poor, but, somehow, my dad always found a way to have my brother and I riding. He got me a mini bike when I was 7.

So...I was reading a bit more last night, there is a section in the Honda CB750: The Complete Story that reads:

"The Mysterious K0"

"Here we enter a slightly contentious area. The designation K0 was used by some in the USA retrospectively to mean all production bikes before the K1. In the UK, however, a different definition is used. What is meant here is a small number of bikes, probably about 120 worldwide, that were produced in mid 1970 with some revisions which were to appear later on the K1 model. It appears that the revisions in question were confined to the carburettors (and consequently throttle cables) and air cleaner boxes."

It goes on to talk about how the modifications were changing on a monthly basis and stabilized later in the K1.

It's still probably wishful thinking, but still interesting.... :)

I'll report back later. I plan to call the shop to check out this auction to make sure it's not a fake.

Cheers,

<D>
