That one aint too bad.

The left cover from a '74 750K went for $428 a few weeks ago. That one was a surprise.

Saw a pair from a '76 550K go for $160 recently {edit - okay, so it was 2 singles from same seller... $61 left $90 right}- bought a whole bike with good covers for $130

Paid $10.50 for a decent pair for the 350G - no cracks but some doofus put a screw through one emblem. What, no silicone?

Happy trails.

perhaps i should go bondo instead of typing about it.

I just won both left and rigth side on ebay for $40 including shipping for my 78 550.  They were in great shape just needed a little paint.  No emblems but am getting these cut out of some aluminum for it.

Maybe I can sell my original left side cover for $400?  Woohoo

I have a parts Brown 550k2(no title) that came with my Orange 550k1,  I managed to shatter my sidecover kick starting on a cold day.  I've been meaning to sell the side covers and tank off the parts bike(wrong color) to fund new tires and another side cover for my running titled bike.

Recommendation?  Sell all 3 as a set or each seperate?

Prices are really getting nuts these days! I wonder what my gold K0 airbox and side covers are worth? Probably their weight in actual gold!

Geez, when the shiny new repro F2 cover I bought from DSS fell off in '05, one of the guys here GAVE me a nice undamaged replacement, but I can't remember who I should now send the 258 bucks to? ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

These prices are completely bat$h1t.

I realize that we (most of us) live in a capitalistic, supply and demand world.  Holy Smokes though!

I have a black one (without the extra emblem) in excellent shape.  Should I sell it to pay for a new exhaust system???  ;)

Sheesh.

The guy at Steele's Salvage (here in CO) told me that a Japanese guy just paid him $200 for a cracked K0 airbox, then had it expressed to Japan.   :o

That was cheap for 200 bucks Mark, I've seen them go for twice, or three times that money, not that I'd pay that much for one when there are good repro's around for a lot less. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Probably not as much, there are more tanks around than side covers. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I wonder if ebayers ever put on auctions and bid things up high like this just to artificially inflate prices.  Let's see... run this sidecover up to $250 and pay the $20-30 it costs to put on the auction, then the next one that goes $200+ above what they really should go for, then it pays for the phonied up auction and the precedent has been set that they're "worth" that much.

At $250, I could justify making a mold and casting an aluminum cover(which I really want to do anyway).

Or at least a fiberglass mold! If a guy made the mounting pins separately from the cover itself and then glued them on with resin after molding the cover it wouldn't be that hard to make side covers.

Ya i think some people on ebay list and bid on the item with another account. If they get the winning bid they then offer the second bidder a second chance offer to take the item at their last bid .

I have been that guy, but i alway tell them NO.
well once i told the guy yes but it was for a Daytona fork brace for my 75F, talk about a needle in a haystack. I guess that is what they are hoping for, but a sidecover i think that is a little odd.

I sold a pair of cb550 covers 2 years ago for just under 200 i almost wet my self, i was thinking 100 for the 2.
This one is funny, i sold a JC Whitny screw on side cover for a 75f new in the box for 40. I think i paied 20 for it new in 96.

Yep, i have issues with this sort of stuff.

This is exactly what these AUS covers are. I'll try to post a pix of them later.

Funny you should mention aluminum...I just talked to a machinist yesterday about the potential of building such a mold...  ;)

I am just thinking..

I think Jerry Magnuson made cast aluminum ones way back when he built his Weber manifolds, MAGNACYCLE and blowers (Magnacharger)..

I saw one only 750 Honda Magnacycle.. it was pretty cool, nice low bike..

Terry, I think you may have meant a die?? not amold.. unless they were diecast?

I keep forgetting to look at one, but I think you could make them in alum.. lot of work though.. And best leave emblem area flush..then you couls still run the emblem, but it would be smoooth if you left it off..
