Drilling new holes in cylinder for mounting exhaust
« on: February 29, 2008, 09:50:21 AM »
I have mentioned before that the PO should not have owned a motorcycle. he had no idea how to properly care for one. This is a 1975 cb750K. The exhast was mounted to the head by just the flower bracket. No spigot, nothing internal to keep it from leaking or just falling off. Truly amazing. I have decided to replace his crappy bolt for the later model studs. Also, when I took of the exhaust, I noticed that a couple of the holes were either completely off center (at a weird angle too) or some other nonsense. I took it to a shop and they welded up 2 of the holes. I have purchased the proper tap (which was a project in itself to find a metric tap in this state). So, other than mounting the flower bracket with 1 screw and using the open hole as a guide, does anyone have any advice? Has anyone here done this before? Anything I should be concerned with, etc.? Thanks in advance.
