Need suggestion for a new headlight
« on: March 01, 2008, 11:25:27 AM »
I'd like to replace my stock headlight with something that actually allows me to see at night. What have you guys had luck with? I've been looking at the halogen on Carpy's page...alternate(cheaper) source?

Thought that might be the case...you happy with the performance of the tribar?

Do a search of the forums for "H4".  Lots of previous threads with good information on these.

I like it alot. It puts out more light than the standard. Plus it looks really cool.

though you can get what appears to be the same product for ~$15 less off ebay.  Plus he includes a bulb with it.

Does the glass pattern throw more light one way or the other?  Just wondering why it's not symmetrical and also wonder if the other light has an opposite pattern.

I used a 7" Buell headlight purchased on feebay and relayed the power supply to the bulb.
Huge difference.

Do a search on relays for the headlight for instructions on this very important step.

If you can't find it PM me and I'll send you it.

Mine throws more light off the right side of the road.  I always assumed that was designed in and why you needed to purchase a motorcycle specfic light.  But then again... maybe not.

When buying an h4 lens get one that is for a motorcycle not automotive because of the light pattern.Or wire it up like funjimmy stated, with a stock head light it makes a nice difference,$12.00-$20.00 might make you happy.
H4,s become brighter also.       head

Spar parts to a classic in my country are $$$ xpensiv  in stores for many people .
So in those in my mind,
I go to a car spar parts, and look for a 7" size replacements reflector and found one to a Volvo 164(its classics now)
But it don't have parking light bulb so I drill a hole  to the light bulb

The best  options for the best light , have in your mind is a Bi-Xenon light and a round 6000 kelvin brightness

Hope this  explains I little to you    ;)

Philips has developped a 'fuel-efficient' halogen bulb recently, the EcoVision. Philips claims it uses 20% less electricity. For those who fear charging issues.
