Remove the little crome cover, and see if you can extract the pushed-in locking pin. Then the unit slides out, and you can reinsrt the pin. Some had a cast-on locking tab instead of the pin: if so, you're sorta stuck.

I bought replicate keys on eBay, just needed the original numbers. They are on the front of the lock cylinder on mine, under that little cover.

I was missing keys on my cb550K '78, and all that was needed by the dealer was the numbers off the ignition switch and 10 min later and $15 or so dollars more I had a proper set of keys! This option is by far the least hassle. Good luck!  Shane

my local ACE hardware cut keys for my GS550 and RD400 for $12 to the code (had two keys made)  they just need the year/make and key code off the lock cylinder.  figured I would have them do a spare ignition I have laying around, my MT250 and my buddies 360 next time I am in there.  they require a 24 hour wait on them (they have their onsite locksmith do them and he is in no hurry)  not a bad deal really since you can call it in and then pick up a couple days later

i just took the lock off of mine today. i didnt have the keys, and it was pretty mangled up. i just drilled out square right above the lock cylinder (case for the lock pins to go in and out of). after it was drilled out, it all pulled right out. but i also have my triples taken apart
