Fork Brace, you can make Yourself.
« on: March 02, 2008, 09:07:05 PM »
This is a drag styled brace that is pretty rigid, that can be made with very little equipment. However a lathe or a few minute access to one would be a plus.

The fact i cant post pics is a drag, but with a helper we can do this.

I need someone to post a pic of the front end of the green bike on the Bonneville 07 thread
..the brace is the project here. You may like that style or hate it, but almost anyone can build it themselves.

I need someone that can translate a few measurements I give them into a drawing on here.. so all can see.

Materials;
2 pcs of,
6 1/8 x 6 1/2 pieces of 1/4 inch Aluminum plate, prefer 6061-T6 or 7075

2pcs of,
3/4  aluminum round bar approx 5 inches long, tubing may work but not preferred.

Anybody interested in drawing this let me know when.

Yes that one, it will fit73 and up 750. (it will be able to work on others with changes, but for now lets stick with 750 .I added fender mounts that go doewn & outward, we will eliminate those.

The brace is designed to work w/o fender, but it will be possible to make a fender work.

So i need a helper to produce a drawing from info I supply or I could draw and fax it, then maybe scanned?? Might be able to send this to seaweb?

email me at
dodogas @telus.net

I will try to draw & send it before noon tommorow, after I get to town.

Do you think dark feltpen on paper will show up well on a scan or will it be redrawn?  It will probably not be to scale but when I give dimension, it can be drawn accurately.

I just yesterday mourning made two drawings with specs for Ed Swearingen, SALOCAL.COM
now sohcCb.com of some gauges I have :no scanner, didn't want to fax. I took pictures of the drawings with my digital camera and down loaded to my computer an e-mailed and attached the photos to him! 5 minutes later I got a phone call that he liked what he received,he can resize, print, duplicate.  Just some thoughts,
