Hello from South Africa!
« on: March 03, 2008, 03:03:30 AM »
Hi All!

I just got to know about this forum after I've been looking around the internet to do some research.  Just thought I'd introduce myself.  I'm from South Africa and I'm a full-time musician.  Although I've been riding for a couple of years now, I'm pretty much still a noob when it comes to anything else to do with motorcycles.  I've always had other people help out when I needed help with my bike, but I'm trying to learn more and have already picked up a lot of knowledge just from reading.  Way back I used to do metal-work and I also build my own guitars, so I'm fairly technically-minded, which gives me hope that I'll be able to do OK once I've learnt everything.

I bought my CB750 Four a short while back for an absolute steal from a friend's father, who put it together from parts from a couple of different 70's models that he found all over the place.  The engine no. is:CB750E-2369420, but I've not been able to identify the frame, or a lot of the other parts.  When I got the bike it didn't have a head- or taillight, so I had to purchase new ones.  The whole bike's wiring is due to be replaced soon.  Here's a pic to give you an idea.

Although I really like this bike as is, I've always been absolutely in love with choppers, so I might well make this bike the chopper/bobber-project I've always wanted to do, unless there would be any real reason not to do it.  I've been drooling over some of the picture of what guys have done with their CB750's that I've seen around the internet.

You ain't a kidden there! This place is the SOHC4 library of Alexandria. ;D

Welcome to the forum and good luck with the chopper project. I have always been fond of 750 chops myself.
There are old bikers and there are bold bikers but there are very few old, bold bikers.

Not doing what you can to make your bike ride-able during the best riding months of the year kind of defeats the purpose of owning it in the first place.

Hi guys!

Thanks for the warm welcome!  johnb it's really cool to find someone else from SA on a forum.  BTW, I live in Ladismith in the Little Karoo, Western Cape.

I'm looking forward to checking out what's going on around here.  Already found loads of informative stuff!

Welcome. You've come to the right place for questions on all things SOHC (or any motorcycle for that matter) but it's the wrong place if you value time at work being spent somewhere other than the internet. ;D
