Wheel/Rim fitment questions

I'm looking to "lighten up" my CB200T ::).
The original rims are DID 160x18, with a 3.00 rear tire and a 2.75 front.
I'm thinking about buying a pair of aluminum rims from an old MX-er and was wondering if the rims can be laced to the oem hubs. Both the CB200 and the aluminum rims are of the 36-spoke variety.
Any thoughts on this conversion?

As mentioned several times in the past, the MX rims are for a wider hub and need the holes re-angled to work properly without bending the spoke heads.
Its pretty easy to do though and won't compromise strength too much as a CB200 isn't going to be doing 60+foot jumps etc
 (and if it is, you probably have better things to worry about)  :D

Yeah, I've fought that battle.  I'm guessing that you have drum brakes front and rear.  Some of the older bikes have the right hole patterns, but they won't be that narrow.  You'll find a lot of WM3 (2.15) width rear rims that will work from old Ossas, Maicos...all the Spanish bikes seemed to come standard with nice Akront rims. 

Be careful and bead blast to look for hidden cracks.  I was all ready to mount one that ended up having a nasty looking crack on the welded seam.  Sometimes it's easier to just pay the money for new rims - especially with aluminum.  Most of those old dirtbikes took a beating and you may have a hard time getting the rims true.  Good luck.

I've looked into new rims for both the 200 and the 550, but the cost of new ones is much greater than what I paid for the bikes! :o
I guess when you really look at things though, I'm already ahead. It's just that there is SOOOOO much work to do on both. What I do have is plenty of time. I gotta get my Z1 project finished before I start dumping a lot of money in to the Hondas.
