Hello all, I need a petcock for a 76 cb550. Any ideas where to look?

How does it fit to the tank? as there are 2 possibilities

Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).
Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

Hmm, I won't be home again to take a closer look at it until Wednesday... do you mean where it's located or are their differences in the fasteners?

Change the year and or model if your tank isn't set up the same way. My 76 CB550 has a tank from a 74 Cb500 so I had a heck of a time trying to find the correct petcock.

Unfortunately I've tried them and they don't have any in stock. Have a salvage parts co trying to get one for me.

One type is held on by two screws inside the removeable bowl and the other screws onto a threaded stub and there are two different thread diameters

Ya I have one that did not fit my new tank. It was off my 78 cb550k tank. If it fits you can have it for the price of shipping.

So, what's wrong with yours? If its leaking, all of the necessary gaskets to fix it are still available from Honda.
