new bike for me
« on: March 03, 2008, 06:24:59 PM »
well after having my little 250 ninja about a year it is time to kiss it goodbye.  Bought it new last May and have about 8,000 miles on it now.  just not cutting it out here int he desert and came into a killer deal.  I have been riding it about a week now but waiting on a title (getting it from a coworker and he had to mail a check to his old bank for the loan)

anyways getting a 2002 VTX 1800.  much nicer on the desert highways out here than the 250 was.  I have put about 500 miles on it so far and loving it.  I still can't wait to get my garage back and get my 550 together this summer and figure what I am doing with it (the VTX makes 6 bikes for me)  I might have the 250 sold to one of two people but debating keeping the 550 once I get some fresh paint on it....the thing is I would rather be building up my RD400 (getting a monoshock and solo tail made up for it) but my heart has a place for the SOHC's.  oh well time will only tell.

so anyone looking for a CB550?  15K miles, will be getting fresh paint, 4-1 header, pod filter (have stock airbox still) along with a box of spares (wire harness, transmission, engine covers, head)

Post it in ABQ Craigslist.

Fortunately for me, Hobbs is just far enough to dissuade me from coming to look at it.  The wife would kill me, with a project yet to be done and no more room in the garage.  Come to think of it, I would kill me.  Though I have wanted a 500 cc bike since selling my Yamaha...

Congrats on the VTX. Which model? My road buddy has a 2002 VTX1800 Retro. We've put over 20,000 miles on our bikes the last 5 years on our yearly trips. He usually rides his about 90mph on the open road. I let him lead so he can get the tickets.  ;)  That's one monster of a bike. It makes my Fat Boy look small when I'm beside him. You'll enjoy the smoothness but not the fuel mileage.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

it has been good to me so far.  loving the EFI (my truck is down a trans so on the bike right now.....beat my old record of 25F today and did a 23F morning ride to work)

I think all I might change on the bike besides a good cleaning/once over will be to get a rear luggage rack for it for over the taillight and maybe some SS brake lines and some fresh hardware (SS) for the windshield on it (has some cheapy chrome plated stuff getting aged looking)

would love a larger tank for it if someone makes one
