New key switch
« on: November 13, 2011, 04:23:56 PM »
My key switch is in poor condition and I'd like to replace it for peace of mind.  Can I still get a switch keyed the same as my old switch from Honda?
Thanks

I picked up a new replacement switch that looked indistinguishable from the original...total price was about 16 bucks.

I don't think you can get it from Honda (for you're K4?)

The Emgo's have not otten good reviews from some on this forum.

I'm about to something with mine - I've too heard that the aftermarket ones (eg via DSS) are not good. I am told my old one can be rebuilt/keyed and should be fine (key currently falls out and sometimes I can't get it back in!). Don't know yet about comparative costs, but happier to pay more rather than buy something that might be unreliable.

Can a lock smith take your original key & a good used switch w/ a different key # on it & make it work for my 72' ? I like just using the one same original key.

I love the small ones too !

Its a dealer in Michigan that has a good online parts look up, not affiliated with me....

If it's the KEY ITSELF you're worried about (which is what it sounds like from your comment that it hardly has any teeth left), try www.hondakeys.com. Just give him the number on the key and/or lock cylinder and the style of key you need and he'll probably have one...or two. Great guy, have gotten keys from him lots of times.

If you get stuck having to use the EMGO keyswitch for your CB750, take a look at the "Keyswitch Saver" relay kits I have on my website (in the signature, below). It has the details about why this is important, and needed.

If you buy from there, be sure to let me know you're from SOHC4.net, too. Members get a little bit of a discount, and $1 from each member-purchase goes back here to support the Forum.
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.
