Yeah it doesn't sound good. Does his e-mail belong to a .nl domain? Holland have a high living status, I guess by today almost everybody have access (if don't have its own) digital camera. My bet it's a bluff and somebody wants your money, but don't know what the heck is a seat pan or how much is it worth. He don't want either fall too short in asking or asking for too much to rule out himself, so he will get whatever you offer. Try to offer something like 30 bucks + shipping and the payment details. Western Union or Money Order (even Paypal) are bad signs. A Bank Account is easier to track and identify wether it is opened in a dutch bank or not.

If he finds 30 bucks/euros + shipping fine and tells you to send him the money through Western Union, tell him you will but then don't. At least you will have him going to the WU office 5 or 6 times.

If he sends you a pic, do a google search under "Images" for "Honda 500 seat pan" to check wether his picture has been downloaded from another site.

"Seat pan" is, to my understanding, the metal base of the seat with no padding or material on it.

dpen, thanks for the explanation   ;) Actually I knew what a seat pan is, I meant THE OTHER GUY doesn't know what the seat pan is    ;D  But it's true, I re-read my post and it seems like if it was me who didn't know.

The rag, tell him you find 250 euro OK and ask for the way of payment. Then go to www.cmsnl.com and buy it new for much less.

Now it's almost confirmed it's a scammer.

.

They dont stock them in cmsnl  it is a single seat finding it tough going to track one down if this guy is a scammer which is possible he is the second one to contact me the other one requested my bank details so he could buy one off me

If you want the seat dearly maybe you can take the risk, but 250 euro is big money to risk. I guess it's up to you. I have crossed street many times when I've seen somebody getting near I didn't like. Maybe I've looked overcautious, but it's better to get out when you have the chance. If you can ascertain he's really dutch, I would say go for it. Center europeans are well known for being straightforward -as opposed to latins like spaniards and italians, don't tell me how I know-.

You gotta show us that pic. Post another pic, select "Additional options" and attach the pic from your computer folder.

If I were you I would play the game. Tell him you are going to send him the money. We can have a laugh with this.

Geez I had one of those cop seats in my garage, can't remember if I kept it or threw it out, I'll have a look tonight and if it's still there you can have it mate. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I knew it!!!!!!! Go to google, and under "images" search for "seat pan". The pictures he sent you is the very first to appear.

I bet you -not my testicle this time- that he will want you to send the money via Western Union, and probably he will say he is in Romania, Nigeria or China on a job trip. Tell him you will, but don't.

"I would like to know your mind on the price". I bet the guy is freaking out. He can't believe there is somebody out there willing to pay 500 euro for two airport seats. This is getting real funny.

BTW, wasn't he in Holland? How come he is in Ireland now? Is there somebody near Newcastle who can have a look at Clifton Road (it must be a short street as it have no number).

Yeah, tell him you will be sending money tomorrow. Probably he will ask you for something like a code that Western Union gives so the receiver can pick it up (something like an authorization code) Do a google search to check for the format (how many numbers etc) and then invent your own and give it to him. When he goes to the WU office and find a wrong code, he will be back to you and then tell him that you are very sorry, that the last "0" was an "O". If he comes back then tell him that the first "1" was an "I" and so on. At the end tell him that you have changed your mind because you rather have them with red upholstery. Don't forget to post all the mails...

... this is getting real funny.

Tell him there are a lot more potential customers where you came from, and ask if he has any muffler bearings for sale.  I could use a set.
