"If You Don't Ride - You Don't Know!"
« on: March 07, 2008, 03:12:08 PM »
Caution, a video with Harley's in it but a good one none the less. There is one Honda in it if you watch closely.
Sorry if this has already been posted.
Cheers,
Cliff.

Hah...  The part where one Harley biker stops for another Harley biker and they poke a wrench under the gas tank...

And none of them wore helmets...

Hah...

Nice song. I'll bet even someone riding a jap bike could sing the same tune tho. But I've never seen a commercial saying you meet the nicest people on a harley.

Oh well, I liked it but what do I know? I also ride a GoldWing and my riding partner rides an HD Road King - the shame of it all.    :-*  :-*

I wish I was a psychiatrist so I could explain that video.  I understand the underlying idea.

I don't mean to stereotype or offend anyone, but most of the "Harley" or cruiser crowd really don't want to ride a motorcycle, they just want to be seen with one.  The real "Bikers" aren't neccessarily dressed in leather, but are the quiet ones off to the side with a smile on their face.  How many times have you been asked "when are you going to get a real bike" by one of these posers?

I just thought it was funny that the quintessential Harley stereotype was right up front in the video:

Dude drives home from work in his Lexus to his nice suburban home, throws down his briefcase and his suit jacket, zips up his leather and heads out to his garage to ride into the sunset as a badass biker.  ::)

What was really funny though was this:  he goes through all the effort to put on the heavy leather and gloves, and yet rides around (Look ma, no hands!) with naught but a bandanna around his head.

Pfft, I shouldn't complain...  I guess if he has a wreck (lays her down sofffft) it opens up a place in the job market for me  ;D

Well, it's a curious video to say the least. The best part of it comes at 0:43, the guy smiling with the american flag on the background, sending the subliminal message.

That being said, there are a bunch of cool bikes on the video. I'm a cheap guy so it doesn't mean I would buy them. Can get double the thrill for a tenth of the price.

I wouldn't wear that shirt either. Not even with the spanish flag on it. Well, the rest of the world outside America have a different idea of how to use your national flag. Not implying there is something wrong with having your flag ubiquitously placed, but generally we display it more sparingly. I have a small flag sticker on my helmet and that's pretty much it.

That video pretty much sums up every HD stereotype there is, and they still wonder why the rest of the biking world hates them ::)

 ;D ;D

To be honest I ask that question of my two Hardley owning mates more often than I've ever been asked it ;D ;D

I am always amazed by the brand bashing and stereotyping that goes on bike forums. The Harley forums bash the sport bikes, the sport bike forums bash Harelys and on and on. I don't care what you ride, you paid for it not me. If you are enjoying it, that's all that matters. I have the vintage Japanese bikes in the garage along with a new Bandit 1250 and a Harley. The Harley has 94K miles on it so it gets ridden. I enjoy the different bikes for different reasons and they have both good and bad points. I really don't care what you ride or what you wear when you ride it. :)

The misconception is that "brand bashing" is not what's going on.  We are making fun of the morons not the bike.  There is nothing wrong with owning a Harley.  Unfortunately many people think that spending too much for a motorcycle somehow makes it better or buys them some cool.  They don't realize that "real" motorcyclists are laughing at them.

Yeah, whatever.  Isn't there enough pro-Harley crap on the magazine racks, internet sites, music videos, television ads, cameos, custom shows, bars, malls, etc?

Why do we need this BS on a Honda motorcycle board?

Slamming other makes of bikes works both ways.. if you do it.. dont go whining if it gets thrown back at you..

I have watched this from both sides of the fence, & I think both sides are just as bad..

I think anyone that  doesnt try several brands of bikes is pretty ill qualified to slam other brands that they have not even ridden..
