76k miss in cylinder 1
« on: March 01, 2008, 06:59:39 PM »
I have a 76k with only 6600 miles on it. It recently started an occasional miss on cylinder 1. I've cleaned the points, replaced plugs, cleaned the entire fuel system including the tank and cleaned the carbs. I also replaced the #1 rubber boot between the carb and manifold. Still have the occasional miss on the one cylinder about every 20 to 30 revs. Backfires through the pipe not the carb. Help!

Thanks for your response. The plug shows it's a little lean. Exhaust or intake valve?

Coil wires a usual suspect...run the bike in the dark and look for sparks bouncing around plug.

How old are your plug caps mate? I had a miss in #4 on my K0 (old NGK caps) so yesterday I found an old OEM cap and replaced it, and it is much better, but tomorrow I'll go buy four new ones and I reckon it'll be gone completely! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
