When I hold the throttle at anything over 4 grand I get a miss in the engine when I crack the throttle it runs like a raped ape I have the 78 carbs  on my 836 .  The carbs are shimmed so I know its getting enough fuel and I checked the fuel level in the bowls, thanks Sean for the info.  My last thing will be a complete tune up ,valves etc check timing the works. Could it be one of my plug wires. right now I am using 8.8 mm graphite core excel wires , and would like too change to copper core maybe a dyna 7 mm  size will this work. Also any other ideas what the miss may be. thanks

check your advancer springs?

I'll check them when I check the timing on my dyna-s ignition. You never know the plate may have moved little.

Well here is where I stand checked the valves found #4 intake real tight ,feller gauge would not go in .  Checked timing spot on, added another shim to the carbs syncronized carbs put things back together and test drove ran like a cat with fire crackers attached to its tail . All is well in mudville again.
