Candy Bacchus Olive in a can?

Any suggestions on rattlecan primer/paint combos that would get close to Candy Bacchus Olive (8/72 CB350F)? The forks and sidepanels are a bit faded but not too bad, but my tank is a very faded black one (rust free, however) and I'd like to get it to be a close match.  I don't mind sanding a few dozen coats of primer/paint now that NOS tanks are over $1000 on ebay (who is buying these?).

The orignial had a blue base coat with gold topcoat.  I don't know if anyone makes the color in a single coat.  I'd be very interested if so.  That's what I need to finish up the 550.

Lol Leave the olive in the can.....

Its a but ugly color.....just my opinion.

I know, I've never had a bike that wasn't red, or that I didn't paint red, but this has kind of grown on me.  Kind of like the shrouded forks and shocks.

I bought a olive green CB350, but ended up painting it candy gold. There was a silver CB350F that beats the olive green anyday, but hey, to each his own.

In converting a candy to a conventional base coat/clear coat or even singlestage you loose a lot of the luster and depth that makes a candy paint job special. A lot of the look of Bacchus olive comes from this depth of color (it looks really dark in the shadows and brilliant and sparkling in the light).

that being said the closest I have found is a Jeep color. Used from 1994 to 1999 it was called "Moss Green" pearl. This is not the same as emerald green metallic which was also offered at the same time and has way too much blue. Compared to CBO it is slightly lighter, and it is a pearl so the metallic sparkle will not be as big as the heavy flake honda used, but the yellow tint is just right and it makes a good solid substitute. Incidently this is the color my own personal Jeep came painted from the factory and I was just comparing it to my CBO 1973 bodyset over the weekend. As for being available in a spray paint, jeep used to offer spray can touch up paints from the mopar counter. It was expensive but it was absolutley the color. Also, any place that carries factory colors in touch up paint spray cans should have it availble.

The shop that I got my paint mixed at also sold custom made aerosols...
I'd say do a search in your area and see if any of your local shops do too.  ;)

BAHHHHH...waddayouknow! :D CBO is THE best color, just because  ;D ;D ;D

A side note,yet ANOTHER awesome thread! I`ve been going back n forth trying to decide if I wanted certain parts of my bike flat/satin black but now I have yet another avenue to explore...you guy`s ROCK!

You can get a two part clear coat in a can here. Great if you cheap out and use lacquers. Don't use a lacuer clear.

Don't get a close shade, get the real deal, I was at a vintage bike show and everyone notices when you get the wrong shade.

Paint codes would be more useful but I've never seen those for old Hondas. I know they use funny base coat colors The original green fades to show the brown basecoat underneath. It looks like they repainted a bunch of brown tanks. The orange flake color fades to a silver base

the base color for CBO is blue not brown. The candy coat is a mellow gold color. When it ages it yellows darker and washes out the original gold and can appear brown, but it is blue.

I hunted all over the world to get that original multi-coat Candy Bacchus Olive plus trim, decals,  NOS cap and emblems, then after jumping through hoops over a period of a year, had some schmuck in southern Ontario foul up the paint job big time, only to eventually settle for a modern pale impression... :'(

Bitter, what me, bitter?... ???
