The bar situation may be sorted out if i wind up using a VF750 front end on this bike...i will be using the Interceptors clip ons...the area that im trying to sort out is the rear end...if i can use the VF rear wheel on the CB swing arm im happy but i could deal with using a modded VF rear swing arm as well...gonna have to do some measuring in the spring.

            Yeah, might be kinda hard doing some measuring with numb fingers, huh? Looking forward to see what you come up with too!

on the small block chevy,you need to at the least remove the front 2 pan bolts on each side to remove the timing cover,so you might as well drop the pan too.

I have decided to essentially get another vehicle and just rebuild the trucks engine in the spring since thats what i was planning on doing eventually..Throwing a chain in now would be like a bandaid fix to a worn out engine that has almost 320000 kms on it..

                  Probably would be a good idea to check the motor out. 320000 kms? Bout how much would that be in miles? I'm not good on converting things.

           Looking forward to seeing the Reaper progress too!

the cage thing may be settled very soon....I have been in contact with a seller of a 1986 Chevy Monte Carlo sport coupe......So far its sounding like i may have the car provided i can come up with the funds..

Well the monte carlo didnt pan out just as i told bill awhile ago. But heres an update as to the revised plan for the 550.

I am keeping it 550 cc but doing some other lil tricks to the bike to lighten it up and perhaps hunt down a 650 later on to drop in if i get the need for more power.
Reassemble topend to stock engine.
Send head of to MRieck to work his magic on it.
Megacycle cam
Supertrap 4 into one header made from a combination of stock 550 head pipes and the cut off collector from my old Kawasaki GPz550 that my roomate is turning into a chopper.
Rebuild and retune the carbs for pods and the header.
Order BCR battery relocation kit and Seat.
Strip and have the frame Powdercoated after installing Bcr battery relocation kit.
Disassemble the forks and possably have them powder coated as well.
Either have the rotor drilled or buy one from the guy on ebay.
Risers and larger handle bars like trav72 (like others i love the look of it)
Make a new guage mount with relocated dummy lights
get a better master cyl for the front brake that works with the larger handle bars.
Relace the wheels to 17" front and rear to allow the use of more modern tires.
make mounts to use the GPz front fairing,
get a new retangular headlight from a GPz or at least a replacement lens to go into the stock GPz housing (more parts from the now about to be choppered GPz)
eliminate stock tail light and use a signal integrator to have rear signals work as Stop/Tail/Turn (ala harley Nightster)
If possable fit front H4 headlight with HID.
Paint body work to emulate the Honda VF Interceptor.

Thats just a general run down as to what will be occuring with this bike.
This plan has gone through several revisions after realising i was getting myself too deep into all the mods i wanted to do..well that and the general realization that if i did all of them...i would have to work twice as hard on the next bike.

Looks like BCR has come out with a nice looking headlight assembly set up. Theres a good chance this may find its way onto my bike instead of the of the GPz light and fairing...

Scratch the light set up from the above post after trying to picture it in my head i dont see it working for a mild cafe either...But on the CB750 Chopper? i could easily see it working there. But in all seriousness i need to get my tail in gear on getting this thing started after i get it out of the Max Motorsports shop.

Also a further revision of plans...gotta love these projects..they have a habit of letting you know how they want to be built..trav explained the same in his...but yea...chances are good the Frame will be powdercoated red instead of black chrome...certian components will be done in black to accent it (such as the forks and swing arm.  the tins themselves will be black as well. Basicly im revisiting the originally planned Red/Black Theme from the start of the project...I have enough ideas floating around i will eventually need to get ahold of another CB to be able to act on them all lol...

Yet another revision of the plan...I have decided to make this bike into a tribute bike to the fallen soldiers of the current iraq conflict...This decision changes a few things namely the color of the tins and the stance of the bike...Im going to be lowering it a bit and setting it up to have a very simular stance to chopstars and travs bikes...but there will probably be no chrome involved in this thing..blacked out engine..red trim on the engine, red frame..olive drab body work...

After seeing recent progress on my roommates 550F project bike namely the 4 into 1 intake he made to use a harley carb on the bike has me rexamining the idea of Turbocharging especially with the bike being lowered....Since i decided to go the prostreet route im not so much worried about handling and being lightweight..theres a chance i can eventually get ahold of another friends 1989 CB650 that i may look into the idea of doing a cafe or lightweight bobber with. heck im even considering extending the rear swing arm if i go turbo. what im trying to figure out is oil supply to the turbocharger...best idea i can come up with is a sandwich adaptor like terry makes for the oil coolers...have the outlet go to the turbo and the outlet off of the turbo to an oil cooler followed by the outlet of the oil cooler going back to the motor...does this sound feasable?

            Not exactly sure what to tell you about your idea on the plumbing end, but I can tell you (in case you don't already know) that the turbo definitely has to have a good amount of oil under pressure to keep the bearings lubed because of the RPM that the bearings might be spinning. The oil pressure has to be up there during operation and can only start dropping off as the turbo is winding down. I've never had an engine of any kind with a turbo, but I've worked on and operated the Army equipment with turbos and there is always that info plate on the dash that tells you about allowing 5 minutes of idle before moving out with the equipment and 5 minutes of idle before shutting the engine down. Just thought I'd throw that in there.
