Congratulations!! Every CB restored makes me feel less guilty about admiring those Cafes.

None the less I'm big on preserving vintage autos and bikes. They're history.

One question and one criticism though. What (forgive my ignorance) color is that? And, next time I suggest a prettier background. Not for me; it's for my desktop.

Candy Ruby Red, I'm assuming. That is, if it's completely stock...

And I agree with preserving history, that's why I almost feel guilty about my own pseudo-cafe project. Almost.

As long as somebody else churns out the museum pieces, then I'm ok with that!

I'd love to do a full-fledged matching-numbers restoration eventually.

The colour is Candy Rubytone Red. In the pic with 2 bikes, the one on the right I bought new in Setember of 1971. It's never been painted, all the paint except for the right headlight bracket is factory paint. My painter matched it quite well I think. Thanks for the kind words!

I have to chime in again. I envy those fortunate to have been able to buy new! Kudos to all who have been wise enough to hold onto these gems.

Also, if I ever repaint mine Candy Rubytone Red is the color! Currently mine is a nice General Motors color by the PO. I use to be so anti-red too.

I think this is another BOTM contender! Great work and the colour is really amazing! I like the double shot photo as well so perhaps you can get a photoshoot and post some double bike pics when you get the chance.

It sounds very throaty, the new pipes are much louder than the older ones for some reason. I haven't ridden it yet. I have to get it registered as a "collector" vehicle in B.C. which will give me very cheap insurance.
A before shot, sure. But not much to see. I bought a fellow out of all his K stuff (he was into F's only) for $200 which was most of a motorcycle except a motor - all in very rough condition. There were some treasures in the boxes such a set of sandcast gauges. I found a K0 motor that was seized but in remarkable condition on the outside, so the numbers don't match. Another friend gave me a rough K0 and mores boxes of treasures. So after many hours of hunting down stuff, sanding, painting and spending lots of $$'s, it's 99% done. I'm rebuilding a set of K1 gauges to replace the K0 ones. If you looked closer you'll find it's not totally correct but I built it for me to see if I could do it. It will never be sold.

Beautiful job on your K1. I'm finishing up one just like it and almost done except for the front end. I'm re-installing the original body work(faded)though for now because I have a complete extra set that I'm going to paint and then install them on the bike. I also like those tires. One comment, the throttle cables need to be routed around the other side of the frame.Here's a pic of mine, not anywhere near as pretty as yours. Great job!!!!!

It looks great! The tires are Dunlop TT100's.
You mean the cables should be on the other side of the steering head, the left side? That would answer a problem with it holding some revs when I shut the throttle off I think. I'll change it on both bikes.
