Talk about getting testy!
« on: March 14, 2008, 04:07:43 PM »
It was said recently(I couldn't find the thread) that we were getting a little testy.  It was passed off as "cabin fever". Given what our hobby is, it makes sense.  Well, at the beginning of the week, I joined another forum.  One dedicated to radio.  Not just Ham radio, but scanner and short wave listeners too.  I hadn't posted 5 times when some idiot said something stoopid, and I couldn't let it go. I don't need a bounty hunter or anything like that, I got this guy covered.  I just thought you guys might get a kick out of this.  To check it out; www.radioreference.com , hit the forum button,  The topic is "install Discussions" and the thread is "looking for a repeater".  I'm waiting for his latest reply.  He might have to wait for me, Georgetown just tipped off against West Virginia.  Go Hoyas!!!

Game's over, Georgetown advances!!!  And no reply from the bonehead.  BTW, I'm Whls3 on that forum, if you hadn't figured that out.  I decide to not use my callsign as a screen name.  I don't like to put that out for everyone to see.  I did use his call to find out who he is and where he lives.  There are several databases available to look those up.

True words.  I thought my beat up Mazda truck with a $29 Pep Boys am/fm/cassette would be OK parked in Brownsville.  Also made the mistake of taking off some dirty sandals outside my apartment coming back from the beach.  Went to get them an hour later...gone.

The impression I get from that forum after being a member there for a week is they have NO SENSE OF HUMOR!!   I don't think our humor would fly there.

BTW, I love you guys.

I think I'm done over there.  I went there looking for a link to get a manual for an old marine radio.  What I got was a whole lot of grief.  After about 20 posts, I'm in, not one, but two arguments.  They misspeak, and then blame the other guy for not knowing what they meant in the first place.

Looking to apply a little discipline? (For you young folks, that was a John Belushi/SNL reference).

I just said goodbye to the RadioReference putzs.  I went to the admin area and told them how much I appreciated the way I was treated.  And without naming this forum specifically, I stated that we would never treat anyone like that. Unless your name is brimmer555.  Then all bets are off.

I didn't do it on purpose, but I didn't use the same screen name as I did here.  I just figured 333 wouldn't mean anything to any of them, and I'm not too hot on putting my Ham Callsign out there in an unknown forum.  Given what happened, I'm glad it will take quite a lot for any of them to track me down here.

Nah, go on a vinyl forum and pay homage to the virtues of CDs, that gets them every time.

You have to fry the spam first! That is the trick. Then it can go anywhere.

As for them tubie guys, I would tell them digital is the best and that tubes burn out and fuzz things up! :D
