For Colorado folks mainly..
Was just wondering if anyone wants to try to put a spring cherry/apple/wild plum (probably more likely) ride together? Being that my wife's Japanese..and Japanese are crazy about the spring cherry blossoms..thought maybe putting a ride together around that "theme" may be interesting.
The "little lady" always requires that we go on 1 or 2 rides to see the blossoms in spring. I think it's beautiful..just wondered if anyone else would?
One thing though guys..unlike the supposed fall aspen leaf ride..we need to slow down, stop intermittently..and actually take in the blossoms..at least that would be my strong preference. Pretty hard to enjoy the blossoms when whizzing past at 60-70 mph!
I know..I know..I'm a gramps when it comes to riding in a group. But seriously..I was thinking that perhaps a little slower paced, sight seeing approach may be appealing to some. Also..if my wife goes 2-up with me..we will be going slower. I've got some ideas for routes in/around the Boulder-Longmont areas. Thought maybe others may know of good blossom viewing sights around greater Denver area?
If you want to get really authentically Japanesie about it..we could also bring an "Obento" or picnic type lunch to eat along the way somewhere. I've actually done this in Japan..and everyone (business people, workers, families, etc.) turns out in the middle of the day to sit under the blossoming cherry trees and eat lunch. The food doesn't have to be sushi however.
Time around here for first blossoms is usually last week in March thru 3rd week in April. But have to watch the weather patterns to get right on. (Being beekeeper does keep one aware of these sorts of things).
So..if this strikes the fancy of any of you out there..please post on your thoughts, ideas, suggestions.
