ok guys im new to this. its my first bike.
im really into the dunstall style tank that carpy makes, so i emailed him asking how much of a direct bolt on the tank was and how much work it takes to get them on our bikes.

this is what he responded with:
Thanks for the email, and as regards to my tanks, well I do not have the front EARS for them, I have the holes drilled and taped for them but I usually cut my old ones out of the old tank and screw them on.
Then, there is aluminum under the sides of the tank, so you can drill and tap there to add some brackets to the frame if you so wish.

i have never had to deal with putting anything but the factory tank back on so i dont really know whats going on and what exactly he is talking about. does anyone care to clarify for me?

thanks for helping my new @$$ out....ill catch on  =)

well I do not have the front EARS for them, I have the holes drilled and taped for them but I usually cut my old ones out of the old tank and screw them on.

It sounds like the cups in the tunnel of the tank that fit over the two rubber mounts on the frame would need to be cut from a donor tank, then attached to the new tank.

Then, there is aluminum under the sides of the tank, so you can drill and tap there to add some brackets to the frame if you so wish.

That sounds like the rear will need some support.

Does that help?

You think for what he charges for his tanks they would be a direct bolt on ?

I never had anything but Honda parts fit right the first time.
