Where is Engine number on a K model CB750?
« on: August 10, 2005, 07:09:41 PM »
My brother in law got himself a Frankenstein CB750F on eBay and I can't find the engine numbers anywhere on it.  I've seen pictures with a rectangle and the numbers but this bike just doesn't have them where they are supposed to be.

Does anyone have any suggestions about where else we should be looking?

PS the engine was painted black but we don't know if it was originally black.  The engine did not come from this bike according to the person he bought it from.  He was told that it is a K engine in a 1978 F motorcycle.  It has the carb needles and jets for an 836 kit and OEM pipes, but the engine is a standard 750K engine painted black.

Okay thats too much info but if you know anything please pass it on!

The engine number should be in the rectangle you referred to. If it's blank, it could be because it shed a chain at some point and the lower case was holed. When the lower case was replaced, they may not have stamped the number in it. My K0 is in a similar state.

If it isn't where it is supposed to be, is there anywhere else on the engine that the numbers can be found as well?

I'm not aware of any other place, but will watch this post in case there is. I would be interested to know for sure if my engine is orig. and "matches" the frame, since you never know in the absence of a case number.
