Well the retroversion got side tracked for some time. Here's the original thread on the project:

Finally getting back around to it. Been to durn cold this winter to be working out in the garage.

This is where we left off:

Had gotten the pipes all mounted up:



Had just gotten the tank and sat it in on the bike:




Now, this is what I've gotten done in the last week. Have bent and welded in some additional frame stiffeners:



Have the tank mounted up, cut of the rear frame members and made a rear frame loop/seat support and got the seat ready to mount. You can see the new frame rail under the edge of the tank



Have also got back to making the upper fairing mounts. Just need to make the lower mounts now.




Now that I have the seat and rear frame loop, can work on a couple of other things. Like relocating the battery etc up under the seat and some of the electronics in a fake oil tank. Also with the seat on it, I can finally get back to working on the proper location for the rearsets.

One thing I'm going to need to track down is some plexiglass for the fairings windscreen. Any one know of sources for some in 3mm thickness??

Why not check out the supplier that Airtech uses for the screens to go to their fairing kits? Gustafsson

Wow.  That is some really incredible work.  Keep this updated.

Can you still squeeze the carbs out with that extra framing?  You make me really wish I had the tools to work metal like that.  Oh, and the talent would help too.

Are you welding on rearset brackets?  I've been in the garage all night hacking out some clamp-on brackets that I'm still not happy with.  I'd like to see what you have in mind.

Never heard of them. Google fairing/windscreend and all I'd get was either modern sport bikes or cruisers.

But lo and behold. I clicked on that link youb posted and Holy Repli-Racer, Batman....there it was right in their listings....a windscreen for a 1972 Honda RC172 350/4. Absolutely frickin amazing. Thanks DarkRider.

tsfl....haven't come to a conclusion on the rearsets yet. Bo have some clmap on brakets, but when I was playing around with them, I didn't have the seat yet. My suspicion is that I am going to have to weld on some brakets to get the pegs in the right position.

I messed with rear sets and scored a sweet set off e-bay and as I started mock up, I realized that the rearsets would creat more engineering problems than they solved.  not to mention, despite my form over function approach, I am 5 foot 5 inches and an old body builder (195 pounds with little fat) rearsets would fold my stubby muscular legs into painfully uncomfortable angles....stock worked great with my 4 into 4 straight meggas.  Now with my clip ons and short reach, I will need carpal tunnel surgery in short order.
