Glamorous Glennis

Bell X-1
Quite a bit to keep track of,
in addition to a fair amount of uncertainty,
3 cracked ribs and probably a hangover.

Now I want a "Mach Number" gauge on my bike!
Bikes parked out front mean good chicken-fried steak inside.

Actually I really dig that speedo too! Would be great in KM/H as it would always go around on highway driving up here. Cruising around at 140 or so would look really cool...

All of it is cool.  I liked the radio controls.

Honestly I don't think anyone ever gets old enough to ask their mother that question...

In case you guys are curious.....

Thats the XS-1-1 serial number 46-062. You can see in the above its call sign is 6062.

First to break the sound barrier. There were three built. XS-1-3 burned up along with its B-50 mothership.

Powered by a XLR-11 reaction motor fueled by LOX (liquid oxgegen) and alcohol it produced 6,000 lbs of thrust.

The switch labeled Vibrator...Is probably the starter vibrator (buzz box) for the engine ignition. Just a guess
