DOHC Tach?
« on: March 20, 2008, 06:00:31 AM »
Hey all,

so I was digging through the parts bins the other day when I found a nice DOHC 1982 cb750 Tachometer (and the speedo that goes with it). Originally they were on my 1975 K5 when I bought it but I pulled them off for a set of correct gauges. The tach is really nice and unfaded and I was wondering if the tach drive ratios were the same for the SOHCs as they are for the DOHCs? Can I run this on a SOHC cb750 and have it read accurately?

I know I can test it with a dwell meter but I am just trying to see anybody here knows first before I go through the trouble of pulling the bikes out and hooking up the meter.

Don't know about a 750, but it works on a 650.

Actually the one i have I ran it around the block a few times on the 650, and the tach looked in the proper range based on what the motor usually sounds like at that RPM, and the speedo read correct as well.
