Feeling motivated to start a project.
« on: March 20, 2008, 12:13:04 AM »
Hello everyone, I have been reading the forum lately and came across the 750 rebuild for dummies thread. I felt a little inspiration, because I am also a newbie and feel uncertain about my mechanical ability, especially tearing apart an engine. I have to admit though that I really admired those with fix anything and wished to become one of them. Anyways, long story short, last year I bought my first motorcycle a 76 cb 550k with a 4 into 1 mac exhaust, I fell in love with it at first sight. It was brown with a faded green and in good condition except for it would not start. Then I found the SOHC site and read the forums enough to learn how to clean the tank, carbs, and bench sync it enough to run great until had to sell the bike due to financial woes. Thanks everyone for all the advice and input, its a great source. I am regretting selling the 550 even now more than ever. I had learned to ride and get my m1 license on that bike. The date sold was 11-09-07, i'll remember it forever. Heartbroken and determined the next day I drove up to Huntington Beach from San Diego to pick up a 75 cb750f project, semi disassembled electrics, gauges, and cables. I brought it home with a bill of sale and thought about it for a while and got discouraged, until now. I figure I won't learn a thing not trying. So again thanks to everyone for sparking the inspiration. I have never posted accept for a new member introduction when I had the 550. I never had a picture to post but here are some I am trying to post. I'd really appreciate any advice from those with cb750 F1 models or anyone else, Thanks!

That thing is in rough shape. What a beautiful start to a project!!  ;D ;D ;D My 750 F1 was the first 4-stroke engine I had taken apart (I don't really count the V-8 i helped my daddy with when I was a kid. I mostly watched on that one.
