I have a '79. I'll take a photo the next time it's in one piece and/or out of the garage.

Welcome to the frustrated fold.  Er... the family of redheaded stepchildren. ;)

I kid. We've all pulled together pretty tightly because there are quite a few things unique to our 650s.  Hush's CB650PZ thread is something of a mecca for those '79s.

oh, and there's this:
http://www.jasonkent.ca/cb650manual.htm

It resides in its own special folder right on my desktop. :)

Hello friends and fellow sohc4 fans. This is my first post and I'm somewhat of a newbie. Bought my 80' CB650C 7 years ago as my first steed. I rode for about 3 years until my father got in a very unfortunate and serious accident on his bike that left me less than enthusiastic about riding again. It's been 4 years since and I have decided to begin work on restoring the love of my cycling life. Thankfully she was stored somewhat properly and currently resides in about the best shape any early cb650 enthusiast could ask for. I've been visiting/reading/learning a lot from the amazing community here at sohc4.net for about a week now and I look forward to interacting with you all in the future. My carbs are coming off first as she isn't happy about sitting in the garage for the last 4 years, but I intend to make it up to her. I must confess that I will need some help and I hope you will be willing to provide it. Pictures and updates will be added soon via a project thread starting this coming week.

Welcome fellow 650 owner, just when you need help from the 650 guys'n gals it helps if you put 650 into the subject line so we know it's one of our own looking for assistance....cheers...Hush.

'bout damn time you showed up to this party. Geez, Manji'san.

Good to see someone respect the manji properly as a Buddhist symbol, btw.

Figured I'd join in as well.  Just bought my first bike.  1980 cb650 Custom.  $300.  Looks good in the photos cause I'm not showing the other side where it's missing a rotor.   ;D

I think it's almost all original but I really have no idea.  16.5k miles.

Anyone know where I can find an original seat and grab bar?

Sorry for the crappy camera phone photos.

VERY nice ride.  I wish you the best on the new seat and grab bar.  The only other non-stock thing that I can really point out is your exhaust. The Custom's 4-4s tended to rot out, so it's pretty common to find them these days with 4-2 setups.

Nice bike, gotta say I hate those armchair seats, what were they thinking?
Missing a rotor eh! What you make of that Kit?  :D
Lots of guys on here doing cafe racers, choppers and other strange deformities of our beloved 650's so getting a stock seat and grab rail shouldn't be too hard.
If you don't want your pipes to rust out, shoot some "fish oil" down them and around the very ends where it dries out.
It doesn't really smell, one of the NZ 650 forum members put me onto that and it works well, you can get the spray cans of the stuff from most car accessory stores.

hmm I don't think we have 'fish oil' here in the states in car places.  any stateside equivalent you can find?

I found a seat and grab bar on eBay, but with shipping and everything it was over $100.  I've got a motorcycle salvage yard down the road I'm going to check out (once it's running).  What year seats fit the 80 frame?  Just 80 and 81?

I picked up a 1979 cb650.

Only work that's been done to it is things to keep it running.  Overall in pretty good shape......only have to figure out what's not working on the charging system :D  I'll get some pics up soon!
