Off topic here, my dad used to work at Fort Rucker. He was a civilian there, worked in what we in the Air Force call Civil Engineering. He's since moved to Whiting Field in Florida and works for the Navy.
I'm full time Air Guard, and my dad retired from full time Air Guard.

Would it be wrong to ask here how many people have their bike's starter turn over real, real slow once the bike is hot?

That sounds like my Dad and me. He was drafted into the Army, got into the reserves when the first started up, went into Civil Service as a mechanic, the  a GS employee and retired from both. I went into the Air Force, spent 2 years at regular jobs, went into Civil Service as a mechanic on Army equipment, having to be in the reserves as part of the deal and retired from both.

NOW, back to regular programming! ;)

I'm new to the forum, but I've had my 650 for about 5 years.

1980 CB650 Standard, when I got it, it had a fairing and hardbags. After awhile I took them off. Now I'm tearing it apart to fix a head gasket leak, and replace all the engine gaskets while I've got it apart. Hopefully I can finish it soon, it's been too long since I've ridden it and I can't wait.

Wow...I really like that fairing, and I had those bags on an old bike.

Also...uh...I suppose I should have stopped in here sometime to register my 1980 CB650C.

new here, with a 1979 CB650, i was told to add myself to the list...i'm guessing this is the list haha. no pics yet, gotta finish putting her together. had her almost a year, and she's been in pieces in my garage the entire time. just not a lot of free time to devote to fixing her up. i've been kicking it into high gear lately though, and she's getting so close i can almost feel the wind rushing past as i cruise the coastal Highway 1 here in sunny SoCal!

I'm back in business.  Bike has been stored at my parents as I moved to Oregon, finally got it down here last week.  Hasn't been ridden in 8 months but started right up and drives great!

I need some new tires.  Anyone have recommendations?

Yea, bang for buck it's hard to beat Spitfires, like them better then Dunlop 404, like Avon Roadrunners but that's crazy money unles you can find them on sale, don't want to have anything to do with of brand tires.

Cool beans.  OEM sizes 100/90 19 for the front and 130/19 16 for the back?  That's what I have on there right now.  Either it's not in my manual or I'm blind and can't find it.

Ok, I'm in. A few years ago I tried to register here, but it never seemed to work!
Anyway, my 79 sat in an outdoor pen after being traded in and just rusted there for a few years 'til I decided I needed a project. It was the typically un-inspiring black and marroon paint job with the awful buckhorn handlebars and KG backrest you usually see rusted to a fence somewhere. 50 bucks later I decided to make it my own with a fresh paint job a lot of spit and polish, lowered the front end slightly,(scavenged from an 81 650c for the dual calipers and air dampers) GP touring bars with barend mirrors and a cafe fairing, and ended up with what you see here. A perfectly reliable and sporty ride for my 35 mile kamikaze commute. I resurected a "rusted to the fence" 72 CB500k at the same time, in the same style, for my wife, and we rode the both of them on our honeymoon to the Honda Hoot in Asheville back in 2000. Did the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive the whole way down.
It is the 8th out of 14 bikes I've owned (all Hondas but 2) and the most ridden out of the 9 I still own. They are true gems. Under rated and little sought out, the 79s are usually real bargains when you find one, and it doesn't take much to make a real twisty tourer out of one. Faster, and not as gentle and predictable as the 500, but not so tall and unforgiving as the 750, I've found it to be a perfect blend of sport and reliability that will always have a place in my garage.
