It's been a pleasure Bill.  Don't be a stranger and drop us a line now and then on how you are doing.

Meant to touch base, sooner, but things happen, time flies & here we are, almost into December of 2018. Anyway, I see that my '80 650C owner, hasn't made it here yet. I did encourage him, as this is a great group and a great place to be, if even just to discuss the 650's. Since selling my 650, I have also let go of my '80 CB750K. Still got my CB77 Super Hawk & CL72 Scrambler though, among a few others. Great so see the number of 650s still here & keeping things going. You folks take care now.  Bill  ;)

Wasn't really looking for a bike but came across a Craigslist ad for this bike. Ad said like new, 2900 miles in climate controlled storage since 1986.
Had to see it and sure enough, true to ad. Even started right up. Took brake system apart, cleaned and treated bike to new fluid. Tires out being changed, chain cleaned and lubed and soon ready to hit the road. Picture is after washing but not waxed. Not a spot of rust anywhere. Would like to post a pic but can't get it to load.
Got the pic to load just in wrong orientation.

Hi All from Toronto Canada

1980 Honda CB650C 35000kms . 2nd bike.

Still have my 1st bike which is a thumper single cylinder / carb 1980 Yamaha SR250.

Bought the Honda this past May 2019 . Current status of the bike - Was running only on full choke. Carbs cleaned. Re-assembly in progress.

Plans are to keep her stock. Maybe cafe later. Just want to get her to run properly an learn more about wrenching.

Cheers

Hello Folks, Meant to check back in, way before now. But things happen, time (& money) flies and so I am just now getting back on here. Great so see all of these 650s being taken care of & the number growing.  biggest thing I have now, is 3 450 projects (Non Running & in need of a lot of work). I hope everyone is well, had a Good Thanksgiving & looking forward to Christmas. Me, I'm not looking forward to the years pass, as they are leaving me a year older, each time March goes by.   ::)

My main focus right now, is on a 1972 SL350K2, that I am working over. It is in pretty good shape. Just got some things I want to change, to make it more practical.

Thank you, I know I am not around very often now, for several years. But, I still try to get here, as I can. I do understand your feeling about this time of year passing, as I haven't cared for passing over into the new year, for some time now and in March, I'll be hitting 73. So yeah, I'm not a fan of getting those years added either.  ;)  You have a Good one now.

Hey all. Been lurking around here for the last year or so. Bought my '81 from my best friend who had it for around 10 years. He is a "ride it till the wheels fall off" kind of guy and he nearly did that. Chain snapped on him while riding (luckily at low neighborhood speed) and caught up in the rear hub. No damage was done to the engine case/side cover although the hub did get a bit chewed up. It sat for a couple of years in his garage after that.

Since I brought her home I've been going through a nearly complete mechanical rebuild (aside from engine internals). Things I've done so far: tapered roller bearings in the stem, fork oil, fork seals and boots, front and rear wheel bearings, tires, tubes n rim strips, replaced the mangled chain tensioner from the incident, rebuilt front caliper, replaced master cylinder, new shoes in the rear, chain and sprockets, grips, bar end mirrors, cam chain tension and valve adjustment, new spark plugs, all new cables, all new charging system including battery, general cleaning up, repainted some of the black parts (triple tree etc), and probably some other things I'm forgetting.

All this while still riding her all last summer.

Since she has been running so well I have yet to pull the carbs but I have the full kit with plastic floats from 4into1 sitting on my bench. I also have new carb rubbers on the way from mad hornets. I also have everything on the way to rebuild the clutch as well as new coils, wires and boots for the ignition system.

Here's a photo of her last summer before most of a the work I've listed here.

I just purchased a 1979 CB650 with just over 16K miles on it. First things I’m doing is a new set of tires and a rebuild on the front brake caliper. My first “vintage” bike if you don’t count riding bikes from the 70’s and 80’s DURING the 70’s and 80’s!!

Hi All! Happy to join the 650 club! Bought my '79 CB650 last year and did a tune up, replaced shocks, repainted a few odds and ends, bullet blinkers, tail tidy, and got some Honda super bike handle bars from common-motor.com for a slightly lower look. So much fun to ride!
Here's the latest glamour shot.

This is my nighthawk, just finishing rebuild but having electrical issues, when I connect the battery, the lights come on
Nothing else will work except the starter. Any idea? I am near Perth in Scotland.
