Yeah, sometimes, those med bills will sneak up on you. Eversince I got married backin 1971, I've almost always had (on the average) 2 cats and 1 dog. Now over the years (it's really weird how this worked out) when a cat or the dog would die, we'd somehow end up with another, shortly after wards. I think the most we have ever had at one time was 3 cats and 2 dogs (except once, it was 2 cats and 3 dogs) ::) ::)

Worst we ever had for vet bills, that I know of (because I wasn't always made aware of the vet bills, as they happened), was when we got this last pair (Cocoa and Hershey). Took Cocoa to the vet to get her "fixed". Well, something happened because she busted some of her stitches loose and had to be restitched at about 1100pm one night and that meant a trip to an "Emergency Animal Clinic" (I DIDN'T even KNOW that WE had one of those! ::) That little ol'stray female dog ended up costing us nearly $900!!!!!! We just tried to keep our chins up and jokingly called her our little $1000 dog! :o She was (I mean IS) such a sweet little dog. It was either spend the money or have her put to sleep and WE just couldn't DO that, you know? Now, she's the only dog we have. Then there are the 2 cats.

So far, this is the only photo I have of the newly acquired 80' CB650C. But, I've already pulled the windshield, the "2 piece" seat (the seat base was cut off and covered by the PO and then there was another piece that was covered and bolted to the rear fender (that part was slightly tilted toward the rear) and the flimsy little backrest. I've got a nice seat coming from ebay

Sorry, can't seem to post just the picture of the seat, so here's the link to the listing.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290344751545&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

And It's got this strange looking taillight and I've always been partial to the Lucas style tail light like this one and am looking to get one for this bike.

    http://www.flyncycle.com/Universal_Motorcycle_Tail_Lights_p/rltlucc.htm

He had a Standard gastank on it ,but gave me the original tank (has a couple of leaks) and a set of Comstars (rear wheel has a very nice NEW tire on it). Not exactly sure where I'm going with this one yet! First, I need to do some checking  because it isn't running on all 4 cylinders very well. Seems that #1 and #4 aren't warming up the pipes as well as #2 & #3 are! Not sure what the problem is yet. Now, SOMEONE has replaced the rubber carb mounts with short pieces of small radiator type hoses and radiator hose clamps. The left set of exhaust pipes has that solver repair tape around one of the mufflers, where the exhaust pipe connects (is welded to it), but I've got another set of pipes (just need to see how well they clean up). Hi and low beam switch doesn't seem to work either. But, I didn't expect to get a trouble free bike and I should be able to take care of things. I AM open to suggestions about the not running as hot on the outer cylinders though.

I have the perfect answer, send it to me!!!

As for the switch not working, lemme know if you need switch bits since I have two sets that I'm not planning on using. The housings are crap, but the insides were good.

Bill, do you have a picture of the seat that came on it? I'm going to do something different with our other bike, not even close to stock if I get my way, and I'm wondering if I might like the look of that style for what I'm planning. It's hard to tell from the pic since it has human-type people sitting on it.  :D

I don't have any pictures of the seat just yet. I took the back piece off, along with the backrest. It appears to be a seat that, for whatever reason, was cut in two and mounted separately. the front section was slipped into place and there was a single bolt the went into the rear fender, to secure it. Then the rear part had a large bolt that went through the fender from underneath and threaded into the bottom of the rear seat part, to secure IT. Both parts rear covered by the PO and not done too well. The rear part of the seat, wasn't level and tilted towards the back. I mean some folks can see a way to make things work, that others have no clue about, this is true. I DID have some thoughts about trying to rework the front section and see if I could modify it to make it more suitable, but I can't see myself doing that now that I have up and bought a nice seat off of ebay. Soon as I can, I'll get some pictures so you can see it for what it is and then YOU can decide if you want to try it out, I'd give it to you for the shipping.

                                         Later on, Bill ;)

Well Thank You Hush, I appreciate that. I'm hoping to get this 650 lined out and setup in a way to do this forum proud. That being said, you all will have to bear with me, as it's been a while since I've done some of the things that I'll be doing with this bike and I'm a bit rusty. Trying to "Jump Start" my motorcycle creativity and such. ::) Have to deal with the way it is running right now, not hitting good on ALL cylinders (#2 and 3 seem good, but #1 and 2 aren't running well. Seems like they are firing cause the pipes are warm, but not hot. I've been talking with Terry (cb650) and going at what he suggested. After I get that lined out, I'll be looking to doing some "renovating" on this little jewel. I'm sure I'll be picking some brains, for ideas and/or answers to problems and such.

Well, I've been known to jump oin where I should have looked first And, besides, it's too late Kit, I've already got that sucker and am committed to take care of it! Of course, I may end up COMMITTED! ::) Also, I may have neglected to tell you all, but this body is built for Comfort, NOT for SPEED (No Running, in EITHER direction for me  :D ) All I have to say is that this 650 might as well be prepared to work WITH me or face the consequences! ;D

(Did THAT sound convincing enough? ??? Do you think the bike BOUGHT it? ???  ;) )

It's gonna be good working with this bike AND those of you with the 650 in your blood as well! 8)

So, you are saying that I might need a reality check (and reading YOUR's and Manji's, will do it? ???  Well, I've read Manji's even though it was just yesterday. And So, NOW, I need to look yours up and read it as well.  :) Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that IF I read yours and have already read Manji's, when I compare those to Hush's, maybe I can reach a "Happy Medium"! ( Not being REAL good, but not being REAL BAD either!) ??? Sorry, just trying to be as optimistic as I can possibly get. :D

Oh, I'd definately read Kits over mine (I can say that since you've already read mine ;) ) but seriously, hers is full of all sorts of useful electrical troubleshooting information. Just beware, her's is about as long as Pride and Prejudice.

Wonder which would be cheaper, Import him over here OR send the bike over there?  Wait, that wasn't very bright to say. If I sent the bike over there, I'D NEVER get it back!

Now you went and done it, Hush will know you are willing to send it and he'll never leave you alone ;)

Well, sounds like I'd be ahead to read yours for sure!  Maybe I should have read yours AND THEN read Manji's!

Well, hers deals more with the girly stuff like emotions, charging, things like that. Mines more manly, so mainly just the crap thats on the surface ;)  Geez I'm hoping mine behaves for a while once I get it put back together. I'd really hate to have to sit out the riding season with a beautifully painted bike and a pooky motor. Thats what comes from being so superficial I guess :D

You're too hard on yourself.  Mine's the shiniest, prettiest, non-charging turd out there, I guarantee it.  ;)
