Well, hers deals more with the girly stuff like emotions, charging, things like that. Mines more manly, so mainly just the crap thats on the surface Geez I'm hoping mine behaves for a while once I get it put back together. I'd really hate to have to sit out the riding season with a beautifully painted bike and a pooky motor. Thats what comes from being so superficial I guess

Man, this is liable to take some time to get through what YOU went through. I haven't looked at the end, are you still adding on there? If so, I may NEVER actually catch up.

Sure is a lot of info here, with Your's, Manji's AND Hush's AND whoever else. Hoping that mine won't have quite the DRAMA that you all have experienced. But, knowing MY luick, Mine will set a WHOLE NEW LEVEL of involvement, to get it ALL lined out.

Just remember in order to have Hush's apply to our bikes, you have to read it upside down and backwards

BTW, I was doing some rearranging out in front of the garage, with the 80' CB750K w/sidecar, the 83' GPZ1100 and now the 80' CB650C, so I could get them in and out to work on or ride. Well, 1st, we are talking about a single car garage, so I turned them sideways and there WAS ("was" being the key word here) a shrug (of some sorts) at the corner of the garage and I cut it smooth down (smooth, being "Completely") to make it to where I could get the 1st and 2nd bikes out easier without disturbing the others. Before I started putting them in place, I thought I'd take some photos of them. Well, I went to put the 650 up on the centerstand and (that sucker is heavier than I thought and might have been awkward because of that funky seat and maybe because the grab rail is missing as well. Anyway, when I finally got it up on the centerstand, either the springs on the rear shocks aren't the correct length OR they are coming apart! (had about 1/2 - 1" of freeplay with the bike up on the centerstand. I DO have some shocks that I believe are good and will work. The PO might have swapped spring to get the bike lower to the ground? I'm just guessing.
It DOES sit pretty low. Got those bikes arranged better, in front of the garage though and I will be able to get at any of them to do something or even if I need to move all 3 away from the garage door, it won't be as much of a hassle. Got some thoings to take care of so I can get back to the 650 and see about getting the way I want it (soon as I figure out just what that is!

Surely there is at least one of those 750s that is getting good money spent on it, without hearing IT run as well. Surely there is! $:-\$

Dude from work gave it up FREE. 17K miles with just a few glitches (Which I'll be posting about elsewhere). All the trim, etc. is there.

I've got the exact same bike. Didn't get it for FREE though. Lucky. Got it with 21K on the clock, Now its got 29K. New chain and sprocket, Plugs, Engine gaskets, Rebuilt the master and calipers since i've owned it.

It's missing a side cover.. which seems to be impossible to find. Anyone have one?

Always cool to see some fine examples of the 650s AND the pets are just an added attraction, as well.

BTW, just got my seat for the 650, got it on and it's looking better all the time.

Then there's that "funky looking" tail light (don't have a clue where THAT came from!

Anyway, I have gotten myself a "Lucas Style" tail light from http://www.flyncycle.com/ on order AND I've already gotten notice that the light has been shipped this afternoon! Now, boys and girls, THAT FAST!!!!!!!!!

This thread got me to pay a little attention to my neglected 650. My 350 gets all my attention.

Last night i spent about 6 hours cleaning, and waxing. Looks almost showroom new.

It just got dark otherwise i would post some new pictures.

These 650s need to COME Out and be in the Lime Light. They need to be Seen AND Heard!

When I first came on the SOHC4, the 650 wasn't mentioned much, while the others sere getting some noteriety and NOW, the 650 seems to be coming into it's own!

YEAH! Baby! All the others can just give up some of their space and such, for the 650!!

Be looking forward to seeing those photos too!

My thoughts. exactly.

I mean, if you are going for a "Resto", sure. Go with stock, but if not, why not a trim light like this AND this light design has been around for years! And not too pricey either.

Well, the list of things to do to MY 650, is growing. $:-\$ Some are things I need to check out AND SOME are things I want to do, so it's a "Split Decision".

Need To Do:

Check out Carbs (leaking, all of a sudden) - float(s) sticking? Needle(s) not
seating?

Master Cylinder (leaking, by the brake light switch) - rebuild?

Pipes (some backfiring, or popping back, anyway) BTW, they are Taped where
the mufflers are attached to the pipes and I have another set, to put on.

Speedmeter doesn't work (PO had put on a pair of those "Mini Gauges" and the
Tach works. I've picked up a stock set off of ebay
and thinking about going back to stock anyway. (and
using those "Mini" jobs elsewhere)

Rear brake light Switch (doesn't work) Switch or wiring, not sure yet.

Handle bar Controls, Left side Hi -lo beam switch (doesn't work and the housing
and the housing has a crack) gotta get more parts.
Rear Shocks (on their last leg) gonna rep[lace them and I think I've got some
to go on there, if nothing else, I've got some of those Boge
Shocks, that I got from a friend of Terry of Australia

Want to do:

Seat (PO had taken a tock seat and cut it off to similate a "Solo" seat and
attached the rear part separately looking like a seat with a passenger
pad) Looked kinda funky, the way it was done. Picked up a nce seat off
of ebay, but it won't secure the front of the seat. because the PO had put
the wrong gas tank on it and the original tank leaked (see next entry).

Gas tank (PO had swapped gas tanks because the original one leaked (gonna
see about getting the original gas tank fixed and ready to use, so it
can go back on there.

Tail light (PO had put some kind of "Universal" tail light on there) Got a "Lucas
Style' light coming to replace that.

Turnsignals (if I keep them, PO had a pair of small ones on the rear that aren't
working and none on the front) Worry about that, when I get into
the handle bar switch. If I DO have them on the bike, I'll try to
get another pair like the small ones on the rear.

Rode the 650 about two hours to visit my little sister at IU. Handled it well with no breakdowns.

Thanks to Brandon for the little bits that screw into the frame so the grab bar can screw into them. Just got an aluminum polish kit, was going to start today but just cleaned the hell out of it to prep it and now I'm bored. Sometime soon.

Few things I've noticed. Back end feels kind of "squishy" when accelerating around corners. And when going 80+mph. Normal? Or should I look into adjusting the rear shocks or replacing the rear tire?

Sometimes when shifting from 4th to 5th or 5th to 4th I kick it into normal. I used to have slippage top end of 3rd, adjusted the clutch spring and now this. Thoughts?

I'm trying to see how accurate my speedo is. At 5k on the tach I'm at 57mph. 6k 68mph. 7k 80mph. That seem about right?

I drove from 500 feet elevation up to Mt. Rainier National park (Chinook pass is 5400) and the bike would die when the clutch was pulled in the last 10 miles or so on the way there. I'm assuming the altitude could have something to do with this, because it hasn't happened before or after but it was also my longest ride to date; about an hour each way from my house. Can thinner air cause the bike to die?

I'm thinking of pulling the top end this winter and getting all new rings and gaskets. Know of a good kit for that?
