GL 1000
« on: March 21, 2008, 02:36:10 PM »
;D   No local ads anywhere for sohc's, but I have of late seen ads for GL 1000's...$250-600. with the usual, "needs carb work" etc.  what kind of hog are they to ride? and work on?  what years to stay away from? .
thanks,
Don

Tim's got a pretty good handle on the GL1000's! ;) BTW Tim, how's your original Wing doing nowdays? Always was kinda fond of THAT one! 8) Now if you need a place to keep it, I'm sure I could make a space for it. ;D

So Bill, your saying something like this would look nice in your garage?
I would go with any of the GL1000's or GL1100.

Tim, I don't have anything nice enough to come even close to swap for a Wing, much less THAT wing. ::) BTW, I can't seem to get to where I can get a look at your "Cafe'd" Wing, could you either post a link or photos of it? My SLs are not complete or running BTW. When I get a chance, I'll get and post pictures to show you the kind of condition they are in. I can tell you that the Sl350K0 is in pieces and is also incomplete.

Well, before I can even get this reply to you Tim, and get a reply to Paul, you go and beat me to it. And you put in photos that I was asking for in this reply.  ::)  You a fortune teller Tim?  :D

so working on the 1000 carbs is much more difficult than sohc?  I have put in kits in the 750..that's about it.   With a non stock exhaust,  is the jetting what is a pain?  I suppose a GL forum would be a place to start asking questions.  I am tempted to bite on the next GL 1000 I run across for $500 or less. :D

Kghost,

Removed the link as it redirects or points to scam.
