cb750k4 oil pump gasket question..
« on: March 24, 2008, 01:39:22 PM »
I pulled my oil pump apart, and there was a thin gasket between each half of the body. I called my local Honda dealer, and they luckily have one in stock. Should the gasket just be oiled when reassembled, or any kind of sealant used?

I usually just clean mating surfaces really well, then lube up gaskets with hi temp grease and re-assemble, and that usually works perfect, no leaks, easy to take apart again in the future.. With this oil pump I won't be able to see it working so I want to make sure it is correct

Thanks
Tyler

you are not going to take it off too often, but when you do you should put in a new one each time...saves the possibility of it leaking  - or probably trying to suck oil in or push oil out under pressure.... oil needs to go to the right places.....not possibly pushed out into the sump.. :)

Honda has discontinued availability of that gasket. Time to start saving that one too!
