Discontinued Breather assembly filter?
« on: August 09, 2005, 10:14:53 PM »
I've just got my hands on a '76 750F that needs some seroius love. I've stripped the bike and am working on the frame as well as waiting for UPS to bring the 1.2 million parts I need. What does the breather assembly do? It has a filter and spring which leads me to think it has some type of vacum quality. The filter has disintegrated (surprised?), what are you guys using as a replacement? Service Honda says this thing is discontinued.

Thanks in advance, I've been lurking here for days - this site has great stuff!

I'm sure the filters discontinued 'cause everyone who bought these bikes disconnected it as soon as it left the dealer. I believe that the "filter" element only catches oil vapor that is heavy enough to fall before travelling back up to the airbox, nothing actually passes through it except condensed oil on its way down the drain tube. If you want to use the emission control device then I'm sure anything semi absorbent that won't disintegrate in petroleum can be used.
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame
