Another flasher issue
« on: March 24, 2008, 05:42:41 PM »
So i put my battery back in the 750 k8 today, fired up beautifully, however, my right side flashers don't flash unless i put some good load on them (reving upwards of 3500).  Everything is stock, bulbs are correct front and back, left side works fine, my idiot light doesn't even light up when i switch the turn signal on, but the flasher gets brighter so the dual filament is working.  What could it be?  i haven't dove into the connections yet, could it be because of the idiot light not getting any juice?

Thanks,
Rob

Check your grounds and shine up all connections.  Repack them with dielectric grease.

It doesn't take much corrosion at all to steal voltage due to the increased resistance.  The more resistance, the less current flow.  The less current, the harder it is to get a decent flash at lower revs.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Yes, go through connections. PIA but it will fix alot of things and last another 20+ years!! ;D
(yes I didn't say 30) YMMV.
Also switch to an electronic flasher unit.  If the K8 is set up like my F3 the additional ground
wire with female spade connector should already be right next to the existing flasher.
Just the smallest elect. flasher from the local auto parts store. Got mine from Autozone.
Best <5min upgrade/repair I ever did to any vehicle.  Works great lasts long time.  Also will fit in the same spot as the OEM unit.  PIA to get to to remove old one but it can be done.

Ya i have that extra ground on the frame, looks like i'll head to autozone today and snag one.  Then i'll work with my multimeter to figure out why my idiot light isn't working.  Thanks all.
