How to attach saddlebags
« on: September 22, 2007, 12:41:37 PM »
Found a pair of Honda soft saddlebags on eBay. They have velcro straps that go over the seat & join the bags together. Anyone know how they secure to the bike? I think there are some straps missing.

thanks

David

Possibly the straps go under the seat?

Quite possibly. What I'm worried about is the bags flapping around when I go over a bump.

Thanks. Tried with straps over & under the seat. Figured out that they go over, but the strings had me stuck.

The last...or one of the last things you want...is a bag coming loose and getting caught between the rear tire and the fender. Can you say sudden stop!

They probably will have to go in front of the rear turn signals, too.

I just picked these up this morning for $65. nothing fancy, but it's better than strapping something to the seat with a bungee cord.
strapped them on under the seat, had to cut a hole out for the seat lock, and attached some strings to the upper front to keep them pulled up against the frame

Those are nice.  What kind are those? (The brand name is blurred in the picture.)  If I had a set like that, I could ride to work and school a lot more than I do currently, and I could leave the car at home.

I love my old hard bates bags that came with my bike, PO never got them to mount, as they weren't really made to fit, but I've got it rigged up fairly well, working on getting the right metric bolt to make it work.

You mind flipping your seat open and giving me a peak at how you have those straps under your seat?
