Knee Surgery went well
« on: March 26, 2008, 12:52:03 PM »
Just woke up from a nap after my knee surgery.  The first thing I wanted to do was check the SOHC4 forum.  The surgery went well according to the doctor.  The meniscus tears were a bit worse than the MRI showed and he also had to smooth out some cartridge damage under my knee cap.  I was talking with the anesthesiologist prior to surgery and found out that he rides a motorcycle (1978 GS1000).  In about 4 weeks I should be riding.  I begin therapy tomorrow, 3 days a week for 4 weeks.

Good to hear. Four weeks should be just about right for real spring at our latitude. ;)

Good thing you had your surgery now instead of the middle of summer!

Ditto that for my wife... she just had her gall bladder removed. All of the ladies in her riding group all gave her the same get-well message: you'll be healed by riding season!

Get well quick Andy, your bike misses you.  I have a bottle of Percocet also, but I haven't taken any.  My pain is dull, so I am going to pass on the pain pills.  I hate the way pain killers make me feel. Plus, I don't need another addiction - SOHC Fours is enough. ;D   I am only taking the anti-inflamatory meds and using R.I.C.E.

P.S.  My right knee has the word WRONG written on it with a purple marker.  My left knee is signed by the doctor.  I wonder if it is a collectable - like a Shelby signature?

Sparty,

Did they open you up or scope you? I'm hoping you got scoped. Recovery is a few weeks and you'll be up and walking cautiously in a few days. In 4 weeks you'll be a new man with no knee pain. I only had about 10 seconds to talk with my anesthesiologist before I was out each time.

Recover well. If it's your right knee use your starter button. I'd damn near bet you'll be riding prior to 4 weeks!  ;)

Geeze, I feel left out. I only had my tonsils and appendix out so far. I seem to be behind the curve. ;D
