Trailer in a Bag
« on: August 09, 2005, 06:24:24 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has ever used, or known anyone who has used a "Trailer in a Bag."

http://www.trailerinabag.com/product.html

My wife seems interested in doing some two-up riding and some of the places we would like to use the bike are some distance. For example, we vacation in Michigan's western UP almost every year and the area we drive to is 510 miles just to get there. A perm. trailer is pretty much out of the question just because of space for off-season storage.

It might also come in handy should my wrenching handiwork crap-out leaving me stranded someplace so she could come and rescue me and the bike.  ;D

Never used or seen one but it sure looks good in the pictures. That would be very handy to have. Unless someone really says its crap, I would say to try it.

try it with something besides your bike. I would say for a couple hundered miles...hmmm

Well, if they are still selling them i guess they dont destroy evey bike thats loaded on it.

Will your insurance cover your bike if it fails?

Interesting.

Careful Bob, the perfect trailer is like the perfect bike. The topic could carry on forever.

Are you space limited? There are several other companys that make fold up trailers.

For $1200, plus $150 shipping according to the ad, you can get three of the small flat-top trailers that will hang on the wall of your garage or shed, and I know from personal experience, those will fit two sohc's.
I'm sure it's a great product, but seems a little spendy for what you actually get, imo.

I have thought of building a trailer like this (NOT IN A BAG) but the thought of the bike dancing around with a trailer with no susp. make me leary.  Seems like the right series of bumps or ruts could put it on it's side.  Or worse toss the bike.  I would like to hear my thoughts on this are wrong.  I have everything to build a trailer like this (NOT IN A BAG).
These wonderful little birds are great flyers, delicious eating, excellent for training your hunting dog, and just fun to shoot,or stuff and keep around the house.  Bobwhites can be put with other types of Quail and have very large penis's.  Quail are very popular with the babes.

I think Frostypuck may be right.

Buy a trailer and see how many new friends you suddenly have.

I have a 16ft 4000 lb cap. trailer that lives at the airport. One of my buddys uses it one every couple months. He keeps it and maintains it, uses it when he needs it.

I love gadgets like this...
Um, that duffel is going to weigh 140 lbs plus.  Hows your back?  I think the duffel is going to need wheels, too.

Thanks for all the input. I too wondered about the lack of apparent suspension.

Yes, space is a problem. Single car, unattached garage and one wall is already dedicated to a canoe. Hell, stopped using the garage for cars years ago, now a project area and of course, bike storage. Any tips on the other companies making fold-ups?

Bob,

For $600 I picked up a 5'x8' Utility trailer from Lowes with a mesh flooring and gate.  Slapped some wood on it and fabbed a wheel chock from some spare 2x4 I had laying around.  I can use it for everything and its not limited.  granted it takes up some storage space on the side of my parents house but its great.  Single axle with leaf springs.  Might want to look into that.  Your at almost $1400 after shipping for the bag trailer.  My trailer is 2000lbs gross too.

2 block and tackle will make that wasted ceiling space very handy,  My Hobie Cat hangs all winter and I park under it, why not a trailer.  Your a biker, your going to be hit by something soon or later, it might as well be your trailer at 2:00am.  :D

Beware of any trailer that has no suspension! I bought one for my atc 200x back in the early 90's. The vibration was so bad that I could only go about 40 mph before it would start dancing  all around. I used it ONCE on a trip and then sold it.
