Old Fairing
« on: March 27, 2008, 11:28:12 PM »
A few years ago I got a '70 CB750 from a friend.  Today he called and asked if i wanted the fairing that he had on it. I said sure.  He dropped it off just before I went to work.  Tonight I finally had a chance to look at it.  Did they really fit monstrosities like this on bikes in the 70s?

I actually like the fairing, it's the pinstriping I don't like................. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Can't help you Pat, all I've got hanging in my garage is a new old stock Rickman race fairing, so no good for old fellers like you...............  ;D

Where are you, Hoofhearted? If you don't like it or want it around, I'd have a use to it.

Most of the older style fairing like this that I have seen are either Ropers or Wixoms. I believe most of the Roper's had 5 bolts across the bottom of wind screen and the Wixom's used 7. I have a Roper on my CB550K. I have found several old pictures of Ropers and Wixoms if anyone ever needs one to look at pinstriping designs. If anyone knows of other companies that made older style fairings (besides Vetter)...jump in and lend your knowledge.

I have one like that only black that I like because it is easy to get on and off, only three bolts and it is done.I got it in 70 for the trip home from San Diego to Alabama when I got out of the Navy.

They were very common back then.
