I can put an ohm meter on that adaptor when I have a chance.  I'm in the process of moving and won't get to the bike for a couple of weeks.

since i got my tach tonight and wanted to make sure it works before i start the mount (or have my dad start it ;))

what mode do you have the tach on?  4, 6, or 8?

since i have the exact same tach you do ;)

Sorry, just moved and got internet access again.  I'm pretty sure it's in 4 cylinder mode.

I'd get the resistance reading for you, but the bike is in an old neighbor's garage and my meter is buried under a pile of crap somewhere.  It will be a while longer before I get organized here.

take your time.  i just moved as well.  it looks like a 10k ohm resistor based on what i can see on the instructions.  should also be in 4 cylinder mode, but since the tach is 66 miles away...........

Where are more pictures of that bike's front end? It looks super sweet...what do you have going on there?

I never tore into it myself, but pretty sure it's just a couple of blocking diodes.  You need to get the tach a pulse every time the ignition calls for a coil to fire, but you don't want those trigger signals jumping to the wrong coil, hence the diodes.  I never added the 10k ohm resistor in the instructions and it's working fine.

Here's a couple of recent pics.  Bike's gotten progressively uglier since I discovered track days.  Most of the parts are stock, just cut down or ground off in places.  The only really nice parts are some preload adjusters from TTR400.com.  Tach is still working great and has a little buddy telling me about oil pressure now.

Just thought I'd pass this along - found a tach adapter schematic on a Suzuki Forum (http://www.intruderalert.com/cafe/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=128001)

Here's the tach adapter: http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/docs/docDownload.aspx?webtag=Volusia800&guid=FDDC1FC8-AE20-47D7-86D0-9D48619E19E7&liaagc=y

Looks to be the same principal, 2 diodes & 2 resistors: doubles the signal to the tach.
