76 cb750 main fuse
« on: August 11, 2005, 08:32:30 AM »
I am having the hardest time finding 15 amp fuses. they are either too long or too short.

Can you use a 16 amp, I can find those in the right length for some reason?

How could that be a problem ???  They're one of the most commonly used fuses anywhere.  ;) Try ordering fuses in Metric Amps ;D (just kidding).  Radio Shack, Auto parts stores, hardware stores, even some gas stations stock them.

I'm assuming when you say too long, they don't fit at all. When you say short, by how much?

Fit of the fuses does have some importance, as limiting fuse clip to fuse contact area creates added resistance and heat, which may melt the fuse.

If the only correct physical size you can find is 16 AMP, use it.  It will work just fine to protect from electrical maladies.

I don't know if your '76 uses a different size fuze or not, but the fuse for may K0 is what appears to be just a hair short of 1 inch in length. I have several, if this will fit and you can't seem to locate them, I can drop a couple in the mail to you.

When you're at an auto parts store, look for a motorcycle fuse assortment. I had the same problem until I noticed they had these. They were a perfect fit.

You're not alone. I just went shopping for them last week and had to try a few different stores. When I finally found some, I bought the 3 packs they had in stock.

An 8AG fuse will work. They are 1/4 x 1 inch.
