Well, after 33 years, I got my 400F back. Ok, this was not mine originally but fresh out of high school in 1975 one exactly like it followed me home. Brand new form a now defunct Mass dealer. I was so excited back then I rode it for 3 years before upgrading to a 750F. Yesterday browsing thru Craigs list I spotted this one. Same exact color and all. The seller was asking for 1,500 or best offer and I was the first and only to call that night. I made an appointment with the guy and when he opened the shed door I almost crapped. He had owned the bike for 6 years and only put 2,000 miles on her. The original owner had put 38,000 on it before he died. They both maintained it meticulosly. He had all the reciepts and work orders. I asked him to fire it up, and she came right to life. I mean this thing looks to be about a year old. Original tool kit and owners manual too. Chrome is sweet. New IRC tires and sprockets and chain. Now it was time to make an offer. He would'nt state a bottom line, so I offered 1,200 to start. That's all I had to say. We shook hands , signed the title and pushed it on the truck. I got down the raod a mile and pulled over to check the serial #s. I know I should have checked before but I was too pumped. When I read the numbers I became really pumped! First month production- 9/ 74,# 822. Engine is #812. This thing is so nice I can't believe it.
Now I think I'll finish my beer!!!!!!!!!
