Handle bar electrics
« on: March 31, 2008, 10:25:23 AM »
Well i decided to change my bars for some flat ones i bought,

I never realized the indicator and stop switch's electrics run inside the bars!

How do you go about getting them out, i guess i have to unsolder each connection which seems abit of a ball ache.

Also when you have changed your bars have you ran the wires on the outside or put holes in your new bars? I can put some neat slots in the bars under the milling machine but obviously id have to grind abit of chrome off first!

If you couldnt see them...

where do you think they went??

They unsnap.. bullet connectors..

You can mill a slot..or drill and grind.. chrome wont hurt an endmill, just run a tad slower

You can notch the switch housing so that the wires can run outside the bars..

I think you would just follow the cables coming out of the bars around (and/or into) the headlight, disconnect them there, and then pull out the cables from the switch/grip side of the bars. Run a string through your new bars to help install the cables, and - don't forget to label or note where your connections go!
