have pod's, jetting ?
« on: August 11, 2005, 10:32:28 AM »
So, having pod's I been told can cause some issues with Carb's if the "main jet's" haven't been changed.  I've been advised to resize two sizes for main jet's.  is this reasonable?  Or even necessary?

It's not just the main jets, but also the slide needles, slow jets, and idle screws, too.
Pods can change all these mixture setting requirements, as can anything that effects the way the engine breathes from intake to exhaust outlet.

I don't believe in the simple rule-of-thumb jetting changes because of other changes that can also be made to the bike.  For home remedies where access to a Dyno is not available, a test track and knowledge about reading spark plug deposits is really the only way to determine proper mixture settings for configuration changes from stock.

Thank you... I'll give it a read, and check the plugs accordingly.
